My only complaint with Cindy Luis's article is the title. Variations of "How Sweet it is!" is so common in the NCAA round of sixteen that it's become generic and borders on sheer laziness to use it. I think it's beneath Cindy. Otherwise, I like Cindy's contributions to the volleyball world.

How Sweet 16 it isBy Cindy Luis December 6, 2015 SAM CRAFT / SPECIAL TO THE STAR-ADVERTISER Members of the Hawaii volleyball team rush the court at Reed Arena after defeating Texas A&M in three sets to advance to the next round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 in College Station Texas. Ever notice that in almost all Wahine photos McKenna is the most animated?

i'm glad that kahakai and anderson were given some props in today's article in the SA.
kahakai was phenomenal all weekend. she was digging up some bullets, and anticipating the tip shots well. her passing was also very steady. at times she and greeley were taking up most of the court on serve receive (as they should since they're the wahine's 2 best passers).
and anderson certainly made the most of her short stints on the court. her flying one arm, left handed swat at a ball deflected off of olevao's block in set 3 against tamu ... is worth watching over and over.

"Hawaii had, in our eyes, a flawless night," A&M coach Laurie Corbelli said. "Even though it stings, we will always be proud of the things we accomplished this season." ..."
“And Savanah dug (all) that came at her. Maybe her numbers weren’t a career-high but it was her best performance of the season. I gave her a hug and said that I’m super proud of her, that this is what champions do. This is how we have to play to keep advancing.”
The two above quotes are a microcosm of the match and Aggie season. Hawaii deserved it, executed better.
Maybe if they are here until Tuesday and practice tomorrow morning I can watch them once more

Yes, Kahakai was MVP for Hawaii and sub-regional in College Station. If this was not her best match of the season then she deserves more national recognition because she played the libero role perfectly from positioning to making the timely digs.

psumaui Scouts Hawaii: Eight Things to Know About the WahineDec 6, 2015 | Posted by Nyline By psumaui (a Penn State fan who lives in Hawaii — go figure) Full post: www.dignittanyvolleyball.com/psumaui-scouts-hawaii-eight-things-to-know-about-the-wahine/Excerpt: "On to Iowa to face the Wahine! This is going to be a tough match, but based on watching both teams all season, I think this is one that Penn State should win. I’ve identified eight things I believe Penn State should keep in mind for the match: 1. Penn State Needs to Terminate Quickly The Wahine are a very scrappy bunch, which makes it important for the Nittany Lions to terminate fast. Hawaii does very well in long rallies. 2. Stick to Nikki 6-3 So. OH Nikki Taylor is Hawaii’s go-to player and has a tough jump serve (she was second on team with 19 aces). She likes to tip balls over block, but also has good tight-to-the-net cross court and down-the-line shots. Another one of her specialties is hitting from behind 10-foot line, so a good double or triple block would help to force her out of her game in that area. Bottom line: the Nittany Lions need to be really on their toes in the back court on Friday, because Nikki Taylor can hit hard from anywhere on the court. ..."

I think there are better scouting reports. There are items that are flat out wrong, but let Penn State use the information therein.
Also, Nikki Taylor is a junior, not a sophomore.

I'm very curious to know who will play the OH position alongside Greeley and Taylor next year. Will it be the taller Castillo or the shorter granato or newcomer sibley? If Granato or Castillo can't get the job done....I'd try Sibley out there. 6'2 player that can play all 6 rotations with a cannon of an arm. If Dave doesn't decide to redshirt Iosia (which I think he will simply because he has two setters returning), then I'd like to see him move Kendra to Opposite to back up Nikki but also still train at setter and put her in as a blocking sub in certain situations.

But, fyi, Cindy has stated on several occasions that she is not responsible for the title affixed to her articles. The title or headline is written by an editor.

I think it's funny to read Corbelli's comments about how the Hawaii middles were tipping early in the match and then switched it up to hitting deeper later on, which affected tamu's defense. Newsflash: that's called bad setter-middle timing, not strategy. I think Olivia and Emily want to pound it every frikkin time but hey, you have to work with whatever sets you get. But don't tell Corbelli. Just let her believe it was part of the Hawaii strategy, not fluke year-long Higgins-magill-Maglio timing issues. late on this but....LOL....
