He was trying to pay Russ a complement. Congrats PSU! You are right. It's a huge compliment. Rose may be personally responsible for many a heart condition from fans of opposing teams. Anyone who still believes Russ Rose lucks out is terribly naïve. I don't know anything about how he gets his results but he's killing me with his consistent results. I'm shipping the Barcalounger and a book with 1,000 crossword puzzles on Monday.

Megan Courtney is the X factor for this team. If she performs, PSU will win. This poster called it. If Megan Courtney shows up for PSU and everyone else plays their roll they are unstoppable. She was hot hot heat tonight. Courtney has had an incredible career at PSU thus far but glad to see her perform to her potential. She can be first team AA caliber. Also Inky had one of her worst matches of the season. This is a recipe for disaster for Stanford. Bugg lost confidence in Inky and tried to force things herself instead of trusting her hitters. In matches like this the tension is so high those little things combined to derail the Stanford machine. I also wonder how effective the McGhee serve would have been had she been healthy everyone forgets she served for Stanford all season for good reason. I believe if it would have gone five Stanford could have pulled this one out simply cause Micha was ready to get off the court as the cramp was clearly bothering her.

Great! As someone else pointed out, you have missed two. One is on page 36 and one on page 37.

PSU has the psychological advantage and Stanford won't be able to stop Washington. Wish I could watch this one live. I bow to your expertise oh great one Stanford did stop Washington at times but not enough. Couple years ago I said Courtney should stay six rotation even with all the DS and tall hitters coming into PSU. Nice to see her perform to her full potential finally. Hancock's setting left much to be desired at times but she never got timid like Bugg. I really think Stanford needs to find another setter for next year if they're serious about getting to the finals with their senior hitters.

Congratulations to the PSU team. They have really over-achieved and made a true believer of me. How does BYU prepare for them? If PSU can't get their middles going, BYU has a pretty good chance. 11 kills and a .105 hitting percentage from the two won't get it done. Courtney, especially, and Frantti were huge. It's been a long time since I have seen OH's be that dominate in a big match. Usually, more balance is needed. Courtney looked like she literally took her game to a higher level. But, a great plan by PSU to continue to go down the line instead of cross-court. Will they be able to do that against Hamson? Should be fun on Saturday night. Hope so, anyway.

It will be good for the Lions to have Frantti back healthy, and the FOY thing is if anything will be a nice boost to her confidence. And of course let's not forget Frantti hit .405 with 22 kills last time these teams met. That won't repeat of course but Stanford will have to pay a lot of attention to her, and that should create opportunities for Courtney. Really, whether Courtney can be effective might be one of the things that the match hinges on. She hasn't had the dominant matches that she had in 2013, but maybe it's just a matter of time... Courtney has not been asked to carry the load this year much at all and to me it has allowed her to improve in other areas like passing and defense. However, I agree with you we will need every bit of her overall game tonight and I think we will see it. Truly truly special player. Well Philly, your hinge was working great last and swung the door open.

PSU has to be multidimensional on the attack against BYU. If PSU can't get a middle or Whitney going, it could be a very long match for PSU and BYU could easily win. On the flip side, if PSU can slow down Hamson at all, BYU could be in for a relatively short match unless they find a way to develop a middle attack in the next 36 hours.

PSU will have much more success in the middle. These are not the Stanford Mids.

I must add how well the Cardinal players handle themselves during and after the match. The players smiled and laughed as they sigNed autographs after and the parents were very positive in their interactions with everyone. Seems like a tight-knit group of young women who are very level headed.
Certainly they are reflective of a wonderful coach in Dunning.
Incredible season.

"If courtney plays well and everyone else plays their role", is an interesting thing to say given that Courtney is really a role player and several PSU players didn't play their roles. Courtney isnt a kid relied on to be their point scorer, and Whitney, Grant and Washington all had way below average nights attacking. It's a funny game, and once again PSU's backrow players come up with the goods in big match and dont get the credit they deserve.

PSU will have much more success in the middle. These are not the Stanford Mids. Plus, Haleigh Washington has a final four under her belt. She had more success after the first two sets. Hope it continues Saturday night.

Yes, nice point. Classy coach, classy program, classy players. As devastating as it is for anybody to get this far and lose, they didn't hang their heads. And Burgess, Howard and Bugg do have one more year. They played well. They just had one matchup problem (Courtney) and couldn't overcome it. I must add how well the Cardinal players handle themselves during and after the match. The players smiled and laughed as they sigNed autographs after and the parents were very positive in their interactions with everyone. Burgess struggled, but still your team starts Amy Neal. Burgess>>> Neal. Southie I have to agree. Texas is my team and I support and take up for them but I would take burgess any day on Texas especially over Neal. Burgess is the player Texas is missing, she is the player Neal wants to be.....Texas couid use her all around game. It's the player that Texas has always been missing. They need an L2 who can play. A volleyball player with 5 tools, who can facilitate all of the great talent Texas always has. For a program with remarkable talent, they have always been a little short of volleyball players, and their setting has always been pretty average for the top 3 level. I think this is an issue of recruiting "choices" because Texas for the most part is getting the kids they want. IMO they have failed to put enough value on that type of kid, preferring a kid that can jump over people, or do the incredible. With all the freak athletes on PSU and Stanford, ball control was the determining factor.
