It's worth noting that Katie Brand, the starting setter for Kansas State, is from Grand Island. That probably increased the demand for tickets. If Taylor Johnson didn't graduate in the winter, there should be two native Grand Islanders playing for K State. If those players' families and friends are anything like Gina Mancuso's, they will be well represented in the crowd.

Who remembers the BIG XII when more Nebraska fans would show up to the Colorado and K State away games? I miss those matches in Manhattan, which were just a hop and skip away from Lincoln... now the closest in-conference opponent is twice as far away. =/ Anyone planning on travelling to any of the away games this fall? We always go to Minn. Had tickets to Madison last year but had a death in the family so had to give up our tix. Might try again this fall. Sorry to hear about the loss in your family, Huskervbfan. I hope you're able to go to Wisconsin this year! I plan on flying out to Madison and the Michigan schools (if we play both of them within a couple days of each other) this fall. Already been to Minnesota, PSU (I heard they finally got A/C!), and Illinois.

If the Big 10 makes out the schedule just opposite of what it did last year with Minnesota & Wisconsin only playing Nebraska once then I imagine that both of those matches will be played in Lincoln this year since they were both away for Nebraska last year.

I just want the 'skers to play PSU twice in the regular conference season. And more Minnesota and Michigan(s), too; less Iowa and Indiana.

If the B1G ADs don't want to put in the time to work out an equitable volleyball schedule and just take the easy way and aligns the schedule like the Conference is set up for football (East and West Divisions) then I would venture to guess you would play teams twice within the football division for Volleyball. Last year there were 20 conference matches so if it stayed that way then each team would play one team from the other division twice and the other six teams once. If that is the case then teams in the East could get hosed by RPI playing Rutgers, Maryland, and Indiana twice.
12 in division matches; 8 other division matches = 20 conference matches
East West Indiana Wisconsin Maryland Iowa Michigan Minnesota Mich. State Nebraska Ohio State Northwestern Rutgers Illinois Penn State Purdue

they sold out in an hour, I dont think a player from Grand Island increased the demand, as its pretty obvious the demand couldnt have been higher. So, friends and family of Katie Brand didn't purchase tickets for a match they might otherwise have little or no interest in attending? well of course they did, and I am sure its a huge deal for her and her family and fans, it just wasnt going to make a difference given it sold out in an hour.

Anyone know if Huff Hall has finally gotten A/C? Better to catch an Illini game later in the season, otherwise a September or October match could be punitively hot. I went with some buddies a couple seasons ago (2013), and I remember it being really nice outside but it was a flippin' boiler room in Huff, and everything smelled like it was in heat with horrid B.O. Fortunately it was a sweep (in our favor), but I vowed to never return until they got with the times and installed A/C, because the huge ceiling fans just don't cut it.

Michigan schools are pretty good. PSU will likely run unopposed in the years to come, not because the other schools are going to be weak, but because PSU will be so strong.

Now, my understanding is that the B1G is not going with the Divisions. The league administrators have determined to go with last year's schedule - only reversing Home and Away dates.

East/West set up I would like to see NE play PSU twice, it should be a protected matchup.

Is this a certainty? No. I think it is likely, but they have not drafted anything final. It will be up to the administrators as there is no way coaches can come to a consensus.
