Bottom line: I'll be happy either way cuz' I'll be treated to some dynamite VB tonight. I hope this final goes to a nail-biting 5 sets. What match is on tonight?

6 of one, half a dozen of another. I want PSU cuz' they're conference mates & we split our home & home with them. I want BYU cuz' A) They are the team which knocked us out of the tournament. B) They've been on the outside looking in and someone NEW is good for the sport. Also I'm liking how Cinderella traded in the glass slippers for full combat gear including combat boots. Bottom line: I'll be happy either way cuz' I'll be treated to some dynamite VB tonight. I hope this final goes to a nail-biting 5 sets. Then you won't be watching psu/byu cause that game is tommorrow night lol

I should be loyal to our conference and admire Penn State a great deal but like so many of you, I am also tired of seeing them there year after year. How amazing is it for an unrated team to oust so many superpowers. Very impressive.

How amazing is it for an unrated team to oust so many superpowers. Very impressive. The whole "unrated" thing needs to stop. Everyone has known for weeks that BYU was very good. They are an underdog, no doubt, but them being unseeded makes no difference. We all knew they were good before they beat the likes of Nebraska and Texas to get to the championship match.

If I don't have an emotional attachment to one team or the other then I'm interested in the process more than the outcome. I love to see a sport played really well or a player or team who maybe lacking in talent displays "grit" and determination and rises above what us armchair pundits thought they could do. I just sit back and marvel at the year after year excellence of [for example] Stanford VB in the 90's, UNC women's soccer, UConn women's b'ball etc. Watching players and teams play a "beautiful game" is inspiring and aesthetically pleasing. I just don't get it when people say they "hate" so and so because they are excellent in what they do. I sure hope they don't "hate" and wish for failure in physicians or engineers or teachers. Watching PSU play volleyball is like watching flight via turbine engine. Impressive, and a remarkable feat, the creation of such an engine. But watching teams like Japan, Oregon 2012, and Wisconsin 2013 play volleyball is like watching flight via the wings of an eagle.
It's fun to see coaches skillfully adapt systems to compensate for gaps in lineups/weaknesses. You see some creative and artistic things happen in these situations. When you get the same type of pieces year in and year out because you're PSU, it takes some of that unknown, compensation, artistry out of the picture.
So, yeah there is definitely a wow moment for a volleyball enthusiast who watches the turbine engine that is PSU, but there is a dynamic beauty to the way an eagle's wings work too. People are tired of watching the engine, even if it is incredibly and meticulously assembled.

I'm happy either way. Being a Husker fan and Big 10 fan I would be happy with Penn State winning. Watching Hancock end her career with a national title so close to home is kinda cool. However, I like the Cinderella story of BYU and would like to see an unseeded team win it all, too. So either way its all good.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but a part of me kind of wants Penn State to win (I have a reason, I swear!), but of course I'd love for a new team to break through.
