Courtney was excellent on the right last season. Not sure which matches you were watching. The lineup didn't change because "she didn't pan out." My perception was based on her performances against Wisconsin & Nebraska, both of which she hit under .200. Just looked up her stats for the other games and didn't realize how well she actually did on the right... Thanks for the correction. Yeah the defense of Nebraska and Wisconsin has the tendency to do that to good teams and good attackers.

Is Whitney locked in at the right, or is there a chance she is moved to the middle, and Lee enters the starting lineup?

Maybe I'm reading too much into an vanilla interview after 3 days of practice. Probably right. Well, actually, he did speak a lot about leadership. His comments about Haleigh Washington struck me particularly. The big man isnt prone to hyperbole, and throws compliments around like manhole covers. Very high praise for Washington, which I can guarantee you is earned. That kid get's it.

He said she was well-suited for leadership at the next level. How many players has he said that about?

Could we see a 6-2? It would be a CRAZY offensive lineup: OH: Frantti, Lee MH: Whitney, Washington OPP: Courtney, Reed S: Rivera, Weiskircher L: Pierce (?) Seems like Reed and Whitney could be interchangeable in this lineup. Just a question, who's the last team to win a national championship running a 6-2? Still, I do like that lineup. Maybe a team can contend running a 6-2 if its mascot is a Nittany Lion.

The Texas team knows the fundamentals thank you. They have one of the best won-loss records over the last few years. heck, they may have the best win loss record of any team the last few years. .... and a championship. And a couple trips to semifinals. If Texas played in the B1G or PAC10 they would have a better shot at national championships. The competition week to week really brings out the best in talented players. Back to the topic of PSU though.... really like this volleyball team, can't wait to see what they can do. I think the front line players are a pretty incredible group. Hope the setting is at least adequate.

I'm afraid that our match against Buffalo won't give us all the answers since Buffalo will playing with a new coach and on the road. It will give us an indication of how the coaches are thinking by the lineups and substitutions. If both setters play then we will have a setter controversy and lots to talk about.

Rose's comment on Heidi Thelin is clearly a positive one and that's really the only news I picked up. I read "need her to be good beyond August" as saying he is picturing her in the lineup this year.
Plus the Whitney to middle talk can probably end now. Second half of last and through the tournament she was just dominant, just a back-breaking player that a lot of teams couldn't defend at all.

I think a 6-2 would ultimately fail....meaning it would not win an NC.
Yeah you utilize all the best players in your tool box and you are bigger at the net but it has too many moving pieces with too many different needs, especially considering PSU's history of strategic substition.
Not a fan of hitting off two different setters, who by the way are very different.

Yep and this is specific to PSU as it is a PSU thread. You should know better than most the only acceptable goal is an NC. I was qualifying for others who might misinterpret. Other programs may have different acceptable goals it would be safe to say , however I would not speak to their acceptable or ultimate end.
