Take away Hancock serve...........Bugg is a more complete and better setter than Hancock. I am not knocking Hancock at all, but when you hear rumblings of NT coaches converting top spin servers to floats because it is more difficult to pass on international level, Bugg would be the better setter (Hancock does have a unique top/side spin serve though so maybe they want to see it again better competition). Gotta disagree. The only advantages Bugg has on Hancock is better hands and a slightly better block. Everything else is advantage Hancock. For a setter that is the most important trait.....having better hands.

Burgess and vasant I can see. Never thought bugg had enough skill to make national team Take away Hancock serve...........Bugg is a more complete and better setter than Hancock. How about working with Hancock so that she has a TOUGHER topspin serve, instead of forcing her to float?

Hamcock'a serve is NOT a typical jump serve and her ability to go down the line or hard cross and also add in the slice makes it unique. She also has a very nice floater if needed. Hancock is a superior athlete to Bugg on top of that her decision making skills are better too. As far as the National team coaches I would suspect they would look at all the variable and intangibles and Hancock would grade out higher in the end. Without a doubt Micha is no where near as polished as she needs to be but the tools are pretty obvious. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

Carlini will be the starting setter for Team USA when Glass retires - hands down.

Carlini will be the starting setter for Team USA when Glass retires - hands down. Not many gurantees in life so I would put this in the "likely" category.

She has a perfect record against the B1G's second best setter.

She has a perfect record against the B1G's second best setter. And what is Sheshenina's record against Take%*$#a?

In my humble opinion Hancock is by far the better setter. Micha is much quicker to the ball, she makes consistently better decisions, and has demonstrated that she can lead her team to National Championships. Bugg is definitely a good, but not a great setter. I would take Hancock, Carlini, or a healthy Edelman before Bugg. In my opinion, the key difference is that Hancock has demonstrated an ability to hold up better under the pressure of big matches. BBugg set very poorly two years ago in the final matchup with PSU. She set better in the final match against PSU this season but many commented that her sets were often off, she grew impatient, and appeared to panic numerous times. She was not nearly at the level she had performed throughout much of the season. I don't pretend to know how much pressure it must feel like to be a setter in the biggest match of your college career but Hancock faces the same pressure and appears to handle it better. I am hoping that whatever stands in Bugg's way during the tournament will resolve next season because she has shown improvement between her sophomore and junior year. It's frustrating when people who have only seen Bugg play during the ESPN televised matches comment that she's no good. The rest of us have seen her play all season long and know how good she is but there appears to be an issue where she hasn't been able to perform to her very impressive level when it mattered most.

Bugg is like Barboza. All that talent, but doesn't show up to the big matches.
