Did Kate Thibault transfer? Interesting that’s she’s not there, even not dressed to play. She is transferring That's a bummer. I thought she had huge potential to be next great L. Her serving was seriously devastating!

Did anyone go watch the spring matches today? How did Oregon look? I think it wasn’t open to the public that’s why they never posted anything about it

We showed up to watch the Beavers, but their setter got injured in the first game before we showed up and they were leaving when we got there! 😔

Did anyone go watch the spring matches today? How did Oregon look? I watched the Ducks play PSU and Corbin. Ducks didnt advertise it apparently because they used the practice gyms instead of the main floor which is still being redone, so were concerned too many people would show up if they advertised it. My summary: vs Psu 5/4 25-18. Daley libero. Ohwobete, Acevedo OH-both all around. Glover Opp/Patterson DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. De los Rios serving for Daley. 25-16. Daley libero. Colyer, Gregoire OH-both all around. Glover Opp/Gamache DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. De los Rios serving for Daley one time. 25-19. Daley libero. Colyer, Acevedo OH-both all around. Glover Opp/Patterson DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. De los Rios serving for Daley one time Present not dressed: Neal vs Corban 5/4 25-21. Daley libero. Ohwobete, Colyer OH-both all around. Glover Opp/Patterson DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. De los Rios serving for Daley one time. 21-25. Daley libero. Acevedo, Gregoire OH-both all around. Glover Opp/De los Rios DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. Service errors. Setting location/pin connection issues 25-19. Daley libero. Ohwobete, Gregoire OH-both all around. Glover Opp/Gamache DS. Ofoegbu MB. Cline setter. Patterson serving for Daley. Ducks used a modified lineup with one middle as Colby wasn't dressed to play, so Onye stayed in the entire time. Funnily, asst coach Nassar came in at middle here and there to let Onye rest. Onye is a powerful middle. She will be fun to watch this year. Really going to be interesting to see who gets the starting OH2 spot this season. There isnt a huge difference between the options imo. I bet they share it throughout the season.

I could ask the players we know but it's not really my business so we will find out when we find out. We didn't see any of the game got there at 12:50.

Did anyone go watch the spring matches today? How did Oregon look? In the first match against PSU, Gregoire, Acevedo and Glover were the most efficient scoring. Passing seemed fairly even between the 4 left side pins. They were in system at a decent clip and Cline's location was OK in this match. Onye is so athletic with such a high contact point it doesn't matter where the set is she's putting most of them away. Against Corbin in the 1st set Ohwobete's connection with Cline still wasn't there but Colyer got it going nicely and Onye continued to put the ball away overpowering the blockers. In the 2nd set the train kind of came off the rails with poor passing and bad set location. Gregoire, Acevedo and Glover had nothing to work with being OOS most of the set just trying to keep the ball in play. Clines location was really rough and they actually dropped the set to Corbin. No idea how the 3rd set went I had to take off. This is such a small sample, meaningless Spring game (with a small roster) so it I'm sure things will evolve but from what I saw the setting situation is concerning. I think the passing will obviously stabilize with the incoming libero transfer.

After matching the PSU match I thought Acevedo looked like the lock for OH2 this season. Onye was very impressive today all day. Yeah, it was hard to pinpoint what the cause of the struggles in set two were in the second match. Seemed mostly setting location issues, but possibly passes were bad too contributing to that. In the last set Gregoire and Ohwobete were in. The passing and setting improved, but both hitters looked good, and got some looks out of the backrow too. It really is a toss up for me about which OH2 gets the start. I'd lean towards Acevedo or Ohwobete, but I feel like both definitely deserve playing time. Ohwobete seems to have some better serve receive/passing, but Acevedo can be more terminal when in system. Gregoire is definitely good at backrow passing, but front row is up and down at times, but also saw probably the most service errors from her, then maybe Daley and Cline with a few too. I really liked Patterson and Gamache's serves. They got teams out of system. I hope they get serving playing time this season. I was impressed with their passing too.

Thanks to everyone who posted reviews of the weekend matches! I’m so excited to watch Onye this year; her hitting in warmups was dynamic last year and I can’t wait to see it live in games.

I’m not sure if the trees will be around anymore, they posted something about “a blank canvas” with a picture of a bare floor being worked on in MKA.

Volleyball will be playing on a Taraflex over it though.

I agree that I don't see Acevedo sitting too much. I honestly think the real battle is going to be between Colyer and Ohwobete for L1, and I wonder at what point they start exploring reps for Mimi on the right. I didn't see the Corban match, but Cline looked very solid in the other two from this Spring. She's not Hannah Pukis, but we knew she wouldn't be, and she is physical and dynamic and you also have to view her in light of the passing, which was very streaky and not near the level Oregon's been at in recent seasons - so I'm glad we got a great libero in the portal to come bolster things for this Fall but also am not sure we can afford to pass two half the time like we have the last couple of seasons. I do suspect Morris, Acevedo, Ohwobete is probably the best unit for passing, but Colyer's attack and block are hard to keep off the court (and she can augment the right by adding more OOS capability for 6 rotations). I also liked Onye's slide too. If she can play M1 and we can work Neal in at M2, that will be much better for the offense.

2025 recruit Logan Bell named to the U19 Junior Nat'l Team training team. One of only two liberos on the wide roster.
I suspect she'll start in the back row at Oregon and eventually compete for a hitting spot (which has worked out kinda well for us in the past).
