Who are some suggestions? I'd love to get an alum in. Unfortunately Sonja Newcombe is still playing pro - she'd be my top choice - very smart play with a good understanding of the game and I know past players have found her helpful/insightful when she's been training in Eugene over the summer. Alum, AA, Decade long pro career in basically every league is also a plus and could be helpful for players who have such aspirations. Otherwise, I'd like to go for Alaina Bergsma. Don't think she has much coaching experience, but has the most magnetic personality and would be an absolute MONSTER recruiting. Alum, NPOY, also played for a long time in many different countries. Not sure what she's up to rn. I nominate Lauren Plum: villanova.com/news/2020/7/20/womens-volleyball-lauren-plum-to-join-volleyball-staff.aspx

Tea?

I was going to nominate Maggie Scott too but just noticed that she’s no longer listed as an AC at Ole Miss. Tea? really, this is interesting. There was some chatter on another thread (I’ll see if I can find to link) that their assistant was not in the bench the last few weeks of the season and the tournament games, but Maggie was.

The jobs thread shows the associate/assistant coach open at ole miss. Is that Maggie’s job? Or the other one?

Saw on the one of the transfers threads that Breana Edwards might be heading our way, love a hometown (well, home *state*) girl. I didn't really watch and Indiana VB, what do we know about her game (esp her passing)? I know she was a big contributor so excited to have some veteran presence and hopefully some firepower.

Her mom played for Oregon volleyball back in the day. She's got a heavy arm - she took a lot of swings against good competition on a bad team, and is definitely a proven and capable OH, which would be helpful for us. 2nd Team All B1G her sophomore season and well over 1,000 career kills. I imagine we'd want her more as a solid attacking option than for her serve receive. Colyer is completely unknown at this level, and we just can't trust Williams not to make an attacking error (esp. OOS). She'd definitely slot in nicely.. not sure this is a done deal as Transfer Thread seems to imply?

She had 3.26 KPS and hit .184. Even if Edwards transfers to the Ducks, the Aird Era will continue at IU.

Was just hoping she would fit in nicely in our SR and not be a target. Although other teams loved targeting TBo despite her solid passing numbers LOL. Williams OOS is super rough, hard agree and I'm excited to see how Mimi will develop this year with some great upperclassman leadership. Im really hoping we get this transfer as that's really the only piece we're missing that is kind of a question mark. I guess we will wait and see!

Edwards was a primary passer in the spring but Stockham was the serving target and passed 528 balls for a 1.92 and a 40% GP. Edwards passed 267 for a 1.84 with a 37% GP. Last season she was DS'd and pushed up when she was front row so she only passed 145 balls for a 1.9 and a 39% GP.

As far as I know, which isn’t very far, Edwards hasn’t committed to Oregon. I think she’s weighing a few options.
