Looks like Gabby Gonzales is Eugene bound... thoughts? I wonder who is going to redshirt with so many pins slated to be in the gym this season. (Or will anyone?) I wonder how much Acevedo knew about the possibility of another experienced and talented pin coming in before she re-classed. Gonzales is good but not dominate like a Eggleston or Kipp. Can Acevedo beat her out ... don't know, but it's a possibility IMO; otherwise redshirt. An extra year in Eugene can't hurt either.

I didn't watch tOSU much, how is her passing/defense/blocking? It's a mixed bag. Her blocking is pretty weak, hitting percentage is ok given the large number of OOS swings she had to take, and D is pretty good. I don't have a good read on her passing.

I think her offense could be really good on a team where the offense is spread out better. With Colyer being the focal point, I could see Gonzales potentially getting a ton of good looks when swinging. Pukis setting obviously helps, too. Gonzales is also a crafty hitter and can hit plenty of angles

Gonzales is also a crafty hitter and can hit plenty of angles I'm gonna have to watch some matches tonight! It sounds like she is Borup-esque but maybe a craftier hitter? Borup kind of just relied on a heavy ball but was such a calming, mature energy on the court.

It is hard because no one will have Brooke’s passing or defense in that position next year, so regardless of a freshman or Gonzales in that position, it will feel a little bit like a loss. However, hopefully her experience and the experience & offense Kara bring will help offset not only the loss of Brooke’s defense, but also her leadership. I’ve seen Acevedo’s hitting highlights but don’t know much about her passing and defense. How are those?

Acevedo is elite in all aspects of the game, very good passer, aggressive defender, hits both front and back row with power, but can bring in crafty play when needed. She also has good size to block. Like Mimi, she plays very mature for her age. I can’t wait to see her compete for the Ducks! I didn’t want to hype Mimi too early after watching her skill set very early in the season, because I hate that type pressure on a Freshman…but let’s say I’m excited to see them play together.

I guess since Cook bolted to the Big 10, Matt Ulmer becomes my new #1 conference coach crush.... Go Ducks?

Any idea when we'll find out who Ulmer's tweet was about? Curious if it indeed is about Gonzales or a surprise high school recruit.
As for Gonzales, I would say that she's a "jack of all trades". She may not be known as a superstar in one area of play, but she can pretty much do everything more than sufficiently. That said, at times she really shines. And as mentioned by others, she has a calm and mature presence that I think would help any team.

Lmao don't take this too seriously, but it's funny that for three of them he's like "dynamic athlete in all facets of the game", "looks like such an experienced player", "strong moves in the backcourt" etc. and then one of them gets "will benefit from her personality and work ethic"
