...actually, this tournament is listed as a Grand Slam? Does anyone have any inside knowledge at all about this tournament? Sure seems like it must be pretty much a certainty if it is a Grand Slam? No offense, but Florida in June kinda blows as far as heat and humidity, and there are other weekends open in both April and May, so I wonder why they are having it relatively late? Just curious - thanks for any info!

Unfortunately, I don't know anything more beyond what FIVB has released. On the topic of FIVB beach schedule, I find it a bit odd that they bill some sort of World Tour Finals in the US on a specific weekend but the location hasn't been finalized. Waiting for a permit approval? What if it falls through? With the recent track record of multiple events either shifting or not happening after being announced, one would think the FIVB would be a little more cautious about announcing anything that isn't finalized. They have an ad on their beach page about being an event host for 2015 still, which makes it sound like they are still in "recruitment mode" for the season too. Oh the joys of scheduling in the beach world. It would be nice if a schedule more or less gets established (much like tennis) and everyone knows about which weekend/week every year an event will be and where.

FIVB teams only play 2 matches a day, they better be able to get through this.

Every time I see "FIVB St. Petersburg" I think they are talking about an event in Russia... So it's not just me? The event is only an hour away, it's tempting, but it would suck to pay for it if teams i dont care about watching end up in the final lol
