wow, I assume they are working around the FIVB schedule but what a jump, May then August. Glad Chicago was added, and I do hope they end up in either Virginia or Boston area for the NE one.

I like the new stops in New Orleans and Seattle and being back in Chicago is huge. I'm sure the large gap between the 1st and 2nd events is due to the FIVB taking up every week in June/July and with Olympic qualifying happening this year, I doubt the top teams will miss multiple GS for AVP events. I also like that this schedule hits almost every major market...makes it seem much more professional and legit in my opinion

I'm pretty disappointed that they dropped Salt Lake. I thought it was pretty well attended when it was here

Finally crawled out of the rock you've been living under for the past 3 years?

Finally crawled out of the rock you've been living under for the past 3 years? The AVP went bankrupt, was bought and sold, went out of existence. I did not know they even exist anymore. The AVp missed its window. The X games and the explosion of sports on cable have all but reduced it to a niche sport except for every 4 years when the Olympics come around. Sand volleyball is like womens figure skating, once every 4 years is plenty enough for the American public. Don't blame me because it has never gone main stream

Why would you come to VT which talks about AVP regularly and claim to not know it exists? Seems like you're just ignorant and trying to be a troll

Who are they sponsored by? I do not know. The AVP could not kill them when they went belly up. They will go on forever regardless if they are sponsored or not. This is the problem with volleyball and its business model..............people who try to run things like the AVP are too smug and arrogant. Yea they have visions but they are not reality. The AVP will go the way of the ASP (Association of professional surfers) which is now the WSL (World Surf League). Surf promoters will never be able to kill Bells Beach Open or the Pipe masters.................they will always go on weather they are sponsored or not. Who puts them on? People who love surfing! Who puts on the Hermosa, Manhattan and Huntington affairs? People who love beach volleyball. The AVP can shrivel up and die as far as I am concerned.

Slick FB post - So fired up for some new stops this season and the return of a classic, AVP Chicago! Two more events to be announced (Northeast/Southeast), where will I see YOU this summer?
I noticed on the site that ONE NE event was to be announced, but didn't see the 2nd....Oh well, WOULD like more Cali events, but "hope springs eternal" I guess.

...and for the "Demise of the AVP"-ers, start a new thread, that ship is similar to the old/new rules venue: READ: Ship-sailed....

I happy that at least some tourneys are going to go happen under some kind of umbrella that will try to get the word out.

The Seattle tournament is happening at the same time as the Seaside tournament in Oregon, which draws players from all over the Northwest. The Seattle stop might still be well attended but Seaside is a big draw for alot of us amateurs so I wonder if this'll hurt their fan support a little. Also, are qualification rounds on Thursday or Friday? If it's Thursday then Seaside will be pretty competitive this year, if it's Friday then a few players will have to make choice. Last year I think open split around $3500 for the men and the women, so it will be a serious consideration for the Non Main draw teams thinking about entering Seattle.

...and for the "Demise of the AVP"-ers, start a new thread, that ship is similar to the old/new rules venue: READ: Ship-sailed.... I dont think it is since the new AVP seems to be teetering. Grow or die is the applicable axiom here and the AVP simply isnt. Six events and one to maybe be announced later? Losing SLC after two years? No Florida? Milwaukee? New Jersey?
