Why does the AVP limit itself to one visit a year to a particular city?
Back in the day, or even now, there was/is a lot of overlap between the fans that come to Manhattan and Hermosa, or Manhattan and Huntington, or Chicago and Milwaukee or any of the former Florida stops
Take Cincinati, which has done very well over the past several years, in particular at venues that need events. Why not run a June event and an August event? That way the fans who come in June and (presumably) have a great time, have something to get excited about and the AVP has something to pitch. Relationships grow, business is done.
In the old days, sites got a lot of support from TV, fan who saw the AVP frequently in NBC would look forward to it coming to town, but now that largely doesn't exist. Why not maximize the areas where there is success?
Go to any major pro sports event, or watch it on local tv, and half the time seems to be spent pitching the next event. ("Come see your Washington Wizards play the Miami Heat next week with half price tickets" "Come see New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning at Larry's car dealership this Thursday between 3-5") The AVP can't do that now because it would basically be, "come see us in 12 months maybe, if things go well" or "watch us on a network no one gets right after the qualifier for a local bass fishing event."
