Is there any literature on whether the PVL pays players or not? I can't really find an answer for either.

Facts: -3 players on Lewis' roster appeared on a PVL roster which is no longer posted. -... that's it.
That's it...that's literally all we know, even though this is still hearsay since the roster no longer exists.
Anything else for that matter is hearsay as well.

Well they haven't played and there is no pay. I believe the winners get paid, but there's no promise to the non-winners, thus no promise of pay. Right?

They get travel and hotel paid. That counts, right?

Not sure how to go about this but wanted some input from the peanut gallery.. Great Lakes PVL roster came out last week and featured 3 current Lewis seniors- surprising as I thought guys need to graduate/finish playing first before committing to a pro team (even if they won't be playing until after season)? Wasn't going to bring it up but GLakes has since pulled the roster off their official page. Smells a bit funny to me. Anyone know the rule on this?? PVL is branded as 'A regional indoor pro league sanctioned by USAVolleyball'. Hopefully these kids aren't getting screwed over in this process! Anybody? Buehler..? Quit trying to stir up issues where there are none. This is nothing more than people putting people on rosters. The NCAA rules state that as long as no one commits to any team, or takes any pay, or plays any point during their NCAA career, then everything is just fine. You could have your WHOLE NCAA team on a roster if you want, as long as no one committed to it verbally or in writing. You are creating conflict just for the sake of conflict. Keep quiet, and shut up. seriously. Besides, no one is benefitting from any of the PVL team stuff, and no one is getting rich, or any teams benefitting from recruiting because they can play for a certain PVL team after they are done with "X" NCAA team. Move on.

So what's the difference between the PVL (Adult) and the HP Championships (Youth)? I mean, if you make the YNTT and are not selected you're placed in the A1 program and compete in the HP Championships and your travel and board are paid for as well... the PVL is way to early to be considered a "professional league," I'm sorry. It may get there but it's not there yet. Also, the ncaa specifically states that "necessary expenses" such as travel are acceptable.

What's the harm in discussion and enlightening the readers on what the rules actually are? There are plenty of horror stories of kids losing high-school and/or college eligibility without realizing they were breaking any rules.

Just tired of people creating a false issue where there is none. Our sport has been put under a magnifying glass for so many years, that the last thing we need is for someone to get the NCAA eyebrows raised when they have no reason to. So what if the players are on the roster? If they have not agreed verbally, or signed any contract, or been paid any money, there is no violation of any NCAA rule. Period.

If the NCAA had a problem with it they wouldn't allow collegiate athletes on the World League rosters... travel is paid for, hotel is paid for, money is only given to the team if they win, governing body is USAV... exact same as PVL.
