Deceptive, Multi Tempo, Precise. Block and serves very well. Lots of upswing.

He's not more skilled than Bruno, Grenkin, and Marouf.
USA has the best high ball hitters in the world so Christenson doesn't need to use as skillful sets as often as others.

Marouf is a way better setter. His team isn't as good though.

If marouf was American, Carson Clark would be the starting oppo and usa would be nearly unbeatable.

Zenit Kazan offered Micah more money than Marouf before he turned them down.

For ME I don't agree. Bruno is a veteran. Micah is a newbie but his learning curve has been rapid. Once he gets settled in and completely involved, he will be much better than he is now.

there's an 18 year old on trentino/italy named simone gianelli that's a rising star too. i don't take much stock in crowning anyone the "best" at anything until they perform consistently in multiple arenas with different circumstances.
for ex...it took lloy ball a long time to achieve national team success, even though he was already making upwards of a million as a club setter in russia long before Beijing 2008.
marouf has really only played pro in iran and with the iranian national team, he joined zenit half way this season and they won the russian league and champions league with him and kobzar setting.
christensen is talented and has a bright future, but he has only played at the highest level with one set of players the past few summers. the veterans like bruno, marouf, grankin represent the class that christensen is trying to achieve consistently.

Wonder where that pre-contact move comes from where he is palms facing each other and fingers on right hand curled up then opens up his palms and extends his fingers fully just prior to ball contact. Unorthdox.
And, everyone looks other-worldly when you loop all their best plays together on one video.
Christenson's in a good situation right now with the NT. Coaches clearly think he's the frontrunner and he has good chemistry/timing with the rest of the starters. That's at least as important as raw talent and ability at that level. Like an NFL starting quarterback, coaches tend to want to avoid any setter controversy by clearly establishing that a particular setter is "their guy" for this quad. Christenson is "their guy" clearly until Rio 2016 and they aren't gonna upset the apple cart till then.

He is awesome but has a lot to learn, which is a great thing. I like how he's becoming more all around player on court, in blocking and digging. Definitely love the fire. However I think sometimes when the team is trailing, he looks like he's second guessing himself out there. The good thing is he recovers fairly quick from it and regain his focus and mojo in the next set.

I like to rate this sort of things.
Setting Magic Blocking Digging Serving Total Bruno 4,5 4,5 3,5 4,5 4 21 Marouf 5 5 3 3 3 19 Travica 4 3,5 4 3 4,5 19 Micah A 4 3,5 4,5 4,5 4,5 21 Grankin 4,5 4,5 3 3 3 18
So, imo, Marouf and Grankin has amazing hands and magic, but in other fields are below competitors. Serving, Blocking and Digging, nowadays are key drivers to success. All in all, Micah A. and Bruninho takes the lead. But maybe this is too narrow, you have to consider how much good are teh other team players. For instance, Grankin having amazing setting skills enhance Pavlov's game.

Oh geez. The title "Best Setter" came from a series of videos that the fabulous Epic Volleyball produced. I just linked it. There is one for Bruno as well. His highlights has his patented dumps. MY comments came from after watching Micah's video. So in my book, without being able to predict the future, I like Micah's setting best. Please chill.

Plum's the best American setter but she's not better than TomKom.
