Congrats to Lewis! And thank you to BOTH BYU and Lewis for making that match a nail biter as well.

Anyone pick Lewis to win in the VB contest? I didn't on the board here, but, I was rooting for them during the match since I do like the underdogs.

Anyone pick Lewis to win in the VB contest? I just checked, and one person did. Heinrich Schliemann III picked Lewis and Penn St. to be in the championship match with Lewis winning it.

Standing room only crowd but decidedly pro-BYU(no surprise there). Awesome volleyball, first game being a near classic! Either team could have won this match. Foreign players(on both teams) dominated this match! And we won't talk about their ages, but none were under 21! Still awesome volleyball, congrats to Lewis, they just didn't give up! They return just about everyone, along with Pepperdine and Long Beach State and next season should and could be very interesting!

Can't really mention LBSU in the same breath with those other teams. Haven't proven a thing yet. Maybe next year they get over the hump. Doubtful, but perhaps. After all, a midwest team just won the championship.

Heinrich Schliemann III is the only one who chose Lewis to win...but he picked them in 4. Boy was he off. According to roofan (Squirrel Boy), Lewis has been great in the past three years, but this is the first time they made it to the dance. Apparently, powerful All American OH Gustavo Meyer had to sit out last year and the first 8 games this year, but when he came back, he led Lewis to the Final victory. What a Final game...it could have gone either way. It does prove that there are MIVA & EIVA teams who can hold their own with anyone. Many posters have trashed the EIVA & MIVA this year, so to you I say...next year they will be even tougher. Stay tuned for another great year.

Why can't you mention us in the same breath?
We took Pepperdine to 5 earlier in the year, and we have NO SENIORS on this team...
Not to mention sweeping Penn State (I don't know how good they were anyway...?)
We were a very young team with a freshman setter and an injured starting libero...
Watch out next year... We definitely have talent - hopefully Scott and Jeff can step it up, and everyone else, with this year under their belt, develop and grow together...
We'll be in the thick of things...
But yeah, congrats to Louis! I didn't make the game, but I did catch some of it on TV... That game 1 was absolutely awesome! Great volleyball indeed!
Wow... A small midwest division 2 school takes it from all the perennials! wheew...
GO BEACH!!!

just to let everyone know,
match point for lewis was the top play of the day on sportscenter. it was the first i had heard of it, and i went on a 10 minute tirade about how MY team was national champs last year, and that this was the first MIVA team to win, etc. i got a lot of weird looks.

I would also like to congratulate Lewis for winning this years championship.
But I would also like to congratulate all the other teams that participated in this years final four.
Good luck to all the teams next year and I hope it is another fun and exciting season.

It seems that tigfan & Eater are still "fueling the fire"... There was a comment by Surfin D Beach about a small DII school Lewis beating the bigger schools. How many students do they have? I believe Pepperdine has around 3200 students...BYU 30,000+. The size of the school doesn't come into the mix...how well a school recruits is the key. I think that Pep and the rest of the schools should recruit in Brazil...seems they have the players down there, despite their age. By the way, I LOVED the first game of the match...a classic. ;D
