This thread is what the board is all about - having fun with volleyball. I got a kick out of reading all these posts. Congrats to the "All-Americans".

Hey Idaho Boy...enjoyed your posts, and am glad you had fun this year. Everyone did. I haven't really kept up with women's volleyball, but I saw the great final Stanford vs USC match. My main interest is on the men's side since I know many players through my 4 volleyball playing sons over the years. I really enjoy watching the various players on different teams with whom I am acquainted. It makes it more personal. I don't know too many women players. It takes a lot to run an T.V.P. contest, and even though there is a tremendous support & interest in women's volleyball, I don't think I'll particpate in the posts. Sorry. Why don't you handle the women's side, Idaho Boy? Hey Charlie...glad you enjoyed the various posts (I enjoyed yours). I hope you'll join our T.V.P. prediction contests in 2004...see you then. Incidentally, it'll be a closer competition next year. Watch for Long Beach...

wow...I made 2nd-team...I would have guessed I didn't play enough games to qualify. It was definitely a lot of fun. Hopefully I will start on-time next season. Pepperdine and LBSU will definitely be teams to watch out for next year. As much as I want UH and UOP to be up there as well, I am not sure how well they will do. Definitely top 10 material for UH and most likely for UOP also, but I am not sure if they will be final four caliber. Hey Crusin... so what was the results of the final four tourney or was the last one with the results and the points it? Thanks again!

Crusin,
I think Bookum got overlooked. He has all the inside info. I guess he got penalized for not predicting games
Can't wait till next year.

I'd absolutely give up my position to Bookumdanaloha any day. Bookum's one of the reasons I even bothered to stick around in my early non-posting days of 24/7!

Sorry chin ho & IdahoBoy...the T.V.P. panel reviewed the standings and merits, but they stand by their selections. Bookumdanoaloha is very knowledgeable and a good poster, but he was the first to admit that he doesn't predict matches too well, which is why he didn't participate in the T.V.P. contests. He did have a lot to say about teams when they matched up with Hawaii, BUT that's not what the contests were all about, which is why he made third team All-American Fan (not bad for his limited participation). He's still there by order of the esteemed panel. Case closed. By the way, chin ho, instead of worrying about the overlooked bookum...why didn't you partiicpate in our weekly contests? Talk is cheap! By predicting matches, you're "putting it on the line" and having fun with every volleyball team and their matches. ;D Thank you, IdahoBoy for your offer in giving up your position, BUT it isn't yours to give. You were selected on your merits, and the fair & impartial T.V.P. panel stands by their choices. Deal with it!! Incidentally, the panel has NO judges from France, or Russia. Just fair judging.

LOL... I started to peek into the complicated realm that being in a position that I don't have the authority to remove myself from could mean! Way too deep for me today, I'll leave it alone.
I SERIOUSLY do cherish the position I did earn, however... don't let me volunteering my position imply that it isn't appreciated.
Instead consider it something like what Vince Carter did for MJ at the All-Star game. I'd love to see what Vince could do on a volleyball court! That guy can FLY and is big and strong. Wooooooo, the thought of him smashing a spike in a pro-men's league is intimidating!

Crusin,
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to watch volleyball enough to predict games.
I like your posts because you know your volleyball. It must be tough when BOTH your teams got eliminated. You should stick to ONE team that way you only get your heart broken once.
I'm switching from being a Warrior fan to a Trojan fan. I can't take Wilton anymore.
GO TROJANS!!!!!

I'm switching from being a Warrior fan to a Trojan fan. I can't take Wilton anymore. GO TROJANS!!!!! OUCH! Are you being serious? Trading in UH for USC? Ouch. The ONE TIME that I went with USC (shoulda been an EASY win over some east coast team) they were UPSET! Never will I root for USC again. (I almost went there too... go figure). I do respect the women's team, but will not root for them, either.

Hey chin ho... I am a volleyball fan...period. Both my teams lost this year in great matches, but then again, I was rooting for Long Beach (against Pacific) this year, as well as UCI (vs UH)...my local teams. There was some GREAT volleyball this year, wasn't there? ;D Incidentally, my heart is strong and flexible...never to be broken over a volleyball match. After all, in the close matches my teams lost, it could have gone either way...AND they were very entertaining. They may have lost their matches, but they were always winners to me! See you next year.
