I agree it isn't worth lawyering up for, but if you believe you were singled out because of your racial/ethnic heritage and are being harmed because of it, contact your local ACLU chapter. That's what they exist for. I wouldn't take it sitting down.
Also, make sure that "suspicious loitering" ticket won't be reported to a public database and show up on future background checks. Contest it, if you can. Tell that lawyer that if it does, you will sue them.

I'll look into the ACLU claim, Interesting VolleyCoach75 could sense what school might do these things. I use the word possible because I can't verify who is an actual parent. I probed the school Athletic Facilities Director and the campus police for more details, but kept getting vaguely worded responses back and eventually a school lawyer wrote back. They are following their legal CYA moves.
I can see if after a match an usher or staff member informs spectators the event is closed and everyone must leave, and if people are still there or refuse to leave then I can see them escalating it to a trespass. But if other general public is still in the arena then people have a right to be there if they are following the rules in the visitor handbook.

Have you requested a copy of the indecent report from the police? That will likely have more accurate answers for you, though names could be redacted.

I spent a significant amount of time in Carolina and I have several middle eastern friends there... while I am not saying this is or isn't what happened but I know they were profiled & discriminated against a lot one so much so he went through strange efforts to be considered latino instead of middle eastern. I would definitely get the police report.

Please do contact the ACLU. People will continue to unjustly profile unless people like you speak up and hold people accountable. I imagine you have turned a blind eye to suspicious looks in the past but if this occurred as you claim it did it's a dangerous form of ethnic and suspected religious bigotry. You can benefit others by pursuing this. I am sorry this happened to you.

All I can say is wow. I am sorry this happened.
As a parent of a player on the team, fans say critical things all the time. Fans criticize both volleyball and non volleyball attributes about the players. Parents learn to have tough skin. We laugh at our get togethers about all the things people say about our daughters. It is just part of the game and believe that all the parents know that there is no malice intended by the fans. Mostly we think it is great that random people care enough to come to the games and be critical.
The parents are together a lot and talk all things volleyball. No one has said anything about the situation you mentioned. But now, i will ask around.
Again, sorry that this happened.
Also, did you say you had to pay for tickets to the match? Because if you did, you got ripped off. They don't charge admission.

Cannot be Duke since there was an admission fee. No charge for the volleyball games at Duke. I don't see where he claimed to have paid for admission to the volleyball match. The refund for tickets he references is for football and basketball.

Must have been a good match in Raleigh today going 5 sets. I tried to get a police report. But they claim the only thing available to me is the trespass ticket. Here is the emails I got back when trying to get more info from the DUPD or the Athletic department . I've attached email correspondence with these two groups also. I gave them my phone # and was even willing to setup a meeting to discuss., but got the run around. Attachments:

Since it sounds like you are a club coach who knows many people in the local volleyball community, have you tried reaching out to any of your contacts to help provide a character reference?

The person emailing you may not be a lawyer... As a legal fellow they probably have a law degree but hasn't passed the bar. If it were me I'd wait for the result of the appeal and if it doesn't go in your favor you could consider the ACLU route. Best of luck...

You would think if someone was that concerned about a suspicious person to alert authorities, they'd pull out a phone to get a video or picture to capture the offensive behavior/person. How did the campus police know who to question when you left the building...someone sent them a pic/video? If so, that would seem to be pertinent evidence for both sides.

U should harness the power of social media. Put pressure on the school to respond instead of giving u the run around.
