These are technically 2015 transfers but it was never mentioned last season. Alma Serna (MB) and Makayla Taylor (L) who both previously played at Long Beach State are now at Cal State LA and will be coached by Bill Ferguson (former USC mens coach). Taylor played a year at Cypress College in 2014 after LBSU while Serna hasn't played since 2012.

Article says she's visiting UCSB. They also have a new setter, Hannah Juley from Wisconsin, who should be an upgrade. If they land Shebby, too, UCSB could make some noise this fall.

If she couldn't qualify for SC, she will definitely not be able to get into CAL and UCSB. Those schools have higher academic standards. She should either try UH or LBSU.

The article said she couldn't qualify because she was short on credits. I'm assuming that it's due to Oregon being on the quarter system, whereas USC has semesters. UCSB, on the other hand, is on the quarter system, which could work out better for her. Could you imagine USCB with Shebby AND a healthy Ruddins on the pins with Juley coming in as setter? That would be a scary team in the Big West!

Hawai'i is as difficult as UCSB but not as difficult as CAL.

I'm not surprised about "academic issues" being the reason they are releasing Shebby. That's why UCLA bailed on finishing the recruiting process for her after they found out she was skipping classes to hang out with her bf at the time, future Detroit Pistons baller, Stanley Johnson.

I didn't see where the article mentions Cal Berkeley. I would argue that USC is tougher to get into than UCSB (at least for non-athletes). I'm surprised that she'd try for USC anyhow. Wouldn't she automatically lose a season of eligibility by transferring w/in the Pac 12? Good luck to her wherever she lands. She's a gifted player.

I would love to see Frankie Shebby end up at Long Beach State. It's about a 20 minute drive from her home in La Mirada.
By the way, what happened to former Long Beach State freshman (from last season) Sarah Miller, who left the team at the end of the season? Will she be playing anywhere next season?
