Melanie Crow from Ole Miss to Mizzou. www.mutigers.com/news/2016/7/5/volleyball-mizzouvb-welcomes-melanie-crow-to-program.aspxGranted a full release and eligible to play right away for the Tigers -- within conference. That's a pretty interesting development. Wonder how it happened? I have always liked Crow - great arm. Missed almost all of last season to concussion, apparently. Hope she is fully recovered - seems like a good pick up for Mizzou. Strange that McRoberts would allow the full release within the SEC, he might have a different opinion of her abilities.

Of course that's possible (likely, even). But I found this wording to be peculiar: "Crow was granted a full release from Ole Miss by the Southeastern Conference..." Not sure if that's just a glitch in the wording of the release or if something else was at play here. Conferences granting releases?

It is possible that she graduated from Ole Miss and therefore is able to play. With 3 years plus summer school it is possible ...

That is possible, but it's not consistent with the release. If you graduate, you don't need a release from anyone to play. Not too worried about it - just curious.

The school gave a release, but the SEC also waved the sitting out one year for inter-conference transfers. Even if she graduated she would still need a release from Ole Miss (Malloy had a release from Baylor).

I know someone that got a release from a conference to transfer within the same conference without any penalties. It is possible if you have a good enough reason. Mostly not being your fault that you are leaving one program for another. When the coach is a complete tool, you have a lot of people on your side. She is from St. Louis so I wonder if it has something to do with proximity to home.

Darcy Dorton was a stud her freshman year and got hurt, so she transferred down to a level she could still play. What is wrong with that? Colleen Ward choose Florida really late - I think it was Senior year. She went to Florida, played for two years, then transferred home to Illinois where she had a chance to play for a national championship. What is wrong with that? Then there was the scandal back where Sydney Anderson and Ariel Salvo went to USA tryouts and were told they wouldn't make it if they stayed at Utah who was still in the Mountain West at the time. Anderson transferred to Nebraska and Salvo transferred to I think UW. That had nothing to do with when they recruited. Maddie Martin went to Penn State, stayed for 4 years and played behind 5 present and future All-American pin hitters, so we call her a bust, but she's got two titles. There are a lot of reasons players transfer. Failure to anticipate a lack of playing time, or inability to deal with losing playing time to another player aren't necessary failures of the recruiting process. If they transfer to find a certain major, like Lauren Cook, that might have to do with recruiting too early. If Ward was homesick, that might have been chalked up to committing too early, except she committed really late. The point I'm trying to make is that not ALL of those transfers you counted are an indictment of the recruiting process. How did that come about with Anderson & Salvo? I've never heard that so I'm curious...

Savannah Kohlhagen to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She's a 5-11 OH going into her sophomore year. Last year she played for Western Carolina. She's from Racine, WI and prepped with Wisconsin Juniors. She's friends with Sara Dodd, I think. Where'd you get this info? We haven't had a Bingo. She might be transferring back home, but not necessarily continuing her volleyball career. Locked out of my Rich Kern account right now, darn it.
