Hmmm. Make that 27-15.
Funny thing is, I really thought I made the right picks, although I don't know why I picked Duke over Georgia Tech.

By my calculations, I am this week's winner! Woo-hoo! 27-14 so far!! Oh man! You're dashing my perceptions of the quality of a Minnesota elementary education. 31-10 beats a 27-14 any day. And just what do you mean "so far?"

I hadn't seen the Boise State result, but you're right. I was 26-15.

And it comes down to a tie-breaker!
Publius and IdahoBoy tied with only 10 misses this week, but by virtue of the tie-breaker, games-played and points, publius ekes out the win! Congratulation, publius!
1. publius -10 2. IdahoBoy -10 3. tito99 -11 4. wiscvball -12 5. BOTE (with two picks missing) -13 6. Island -14 7. tie (R)uffda -15 7. tie sandvb -15 7. tie SaltNPepper -15 8. uptoit -16 9. tie gobears -17 9. tie - PacificGirl -17

Well, IB, sometimes it comes down to those totally subjective choices, where one or more of us might have loved ones playing and whom we simply wouldn't vote against. Maybe you simply have more! How else could you vote for South Dakota State over No. Colo. and Idaho over UCSB? On the other hand, Weber State over Idaho State?

Like wow! I was only 2 games worse than 4 posters and tied with 1 using the coin flip method. Gobears, I have a quarter you can borrow.

Do these scores consider whether Boise St was right or not? If not, then I have Pablo at -12, although it got Boise St wrong.

Not sure what you mean by your post: seems like it doesn't matter what the impact of the Boise match was. My initial (and present) calculation was that Pablo was 29-12. Your web explanation points out the qualifications in your ratings. Would be interesting to quantify them: e.g. impact that FSU player Fenton no longer on the team wouold have had on the ratings, etc.

Also, hate to be a stickler for detains, Pablo, but if you want to quote your results, I don't think it anything but reasonable for you first to officially enter into the contest. ACCOUNTABILITY.

Would be interesting to quantify them: e.g. impact that FSU player Fenton no longer on the team wouold have had on the ratings, etc. This would be kind of tough to do wouldn't it? When a team loses or doesn't play as well when they have a player that is off with an injury or off the team, it usually is offered as an explaination of why that team's performance suffered. The other side of the coin, is that there are a lot of teams that lose players and someone else steps up and there is little if any noted drop in the team's performance. I don't think we can only look at one side of it and it would be pretty tough to always know who's not available for any given match as many coaches really aren't interested in pointing it out publicly regarding who isn't available.

The Pablo predictions for all matches of the week are made when the rankings come out on Monday. OTOH, the volleytalk pick the winners only tell us which of those Pablo predictions are counted at the end. OTOH, Pablo is never entered in the competition, and wouldn't "win" even if it had the best record (note there is never a tie breaker). I note Pablo results for comparison purposes only.

Not sure what you mean by your post: seems like it doesn't matter what the impact of the Boise match was. My initial (and present) calculation was that Pablo was 29-12. I thought I had found 11 wrong through Saturday. Then on Sunday, Pablo got NC/FAMU right and Alabama/Arkansas wrong. So that is 12 wrong. However, it also got Boise St wrong. Is that counted as 13 wrong, or is it just missing the tiebreaker?
