Wake up Boys VB.
The trend of volleyball outside of California will be continued as we go into Junior Nationals. We saw 2 non-Californian teams in the NCAA Finals and I predict that you will see a virtual sweep of non-california Boys Clubs teams at Nationals this year.
18's - Adversity 17's - Torrimar 16's - Torrimar
Just watch!

Nice to say...but can you tell us why? I think you are crazy...especially in the 18s. 5 Fab 50s is good, but have they done anything outside the midwest?

that's pretty foolish if you ask me in 18's department...Adversity hasn't proved anything at any tournaments against Cali teams this year so what makes you think that...

No way Adversity does much. They may have a good showing, but can't win it, especially with that setter.

Even if a team from the east won the 18s (i think it has happened before) that is not a swing of power, when the east puts more than half the teams into the Gold division then we can talk.

Even if a team from the east won the 18s (i think it has happened before) that is not a swing of power, when the east puts more than half the teams into the Gold division then we can talk. Honestly, thats just not feasible due to the few number of clubs in the East (not Midwest). While CA, has about 25 in a 100 mile radius (conservative estimate), the East may have 25 in total...and maybe 5 that attempt to be competitive on a National level. It just makes it that much more impressive when teams outside the West jump into the top 3 due to the lack of competition they see all season long. It would be better for everyone involved if the East and Midwest got deeper in their level of competition...but we have been saying this for years.

the adversity is big and has put a nice season together so far but not travelling will not help their seeding and mind set.
I fully agree that they are in for a wake up call come Nationals. They will not win big games primarily to their setter's lack of mobility and placement and their small outside -kim's inability to sideout against a tougher block and defensive teams.
I would say that that Eden, RVC, Premier and Spri will all place as high or higher then them.
All of these teams are more athletic and have travelled whcih will pay dividends come Nationals.
Absolutely the Silver and Gold should be littered with California teams. Competition, concentration of talent and amount of clubs all in one locality breeds success.
BUT I fully agree with the tenent of this topic that 18's Nationals is WIDE open and more open than is has been in along time.
The LBC which is loaded with talent and deep will not live up to its expectations. Too many egos/cooks spoil the stew.
I'm going with Central Cal. They have the 3 main ingredients fot success this year. Coaching, enough talent (key positions) and chemistry.

Listen, Lewis, BYU, Hawaii... have won the NCAA Div.1 championship with a mixture of great American home grown talent and older expierenced foreign talent.
The sport of men's volleyball is changing and the boundries are no longer west coast, midwest, and east coast. The west coast mystic is getting smaller and foreign players are a major factor in todays men's college game. Leagal or illeagal, those players are here to stay!
Now, I don't see any foreign players on Adversity's roster. So, unless Gustavo Mayer has a younger brother living in Chicago, we will have to wait and see if Adversity has what it takes to win JO's. The rumor is that they are heading out west before JO's for the Jr. Boys Classic. Adversity is good! That tournament will be a great test for them.

Adversity is coming out for Junior Boys. We will get a view of them against the best at that time. There is nothing in their history to suggest that they will make the finals of JO's unless it goes like 16's two years ago where Balboa, LAAC, LBC and Torrimar were all on the same side of the gold playoff bracket and Saddleback got to the finals against torrimar. LBC remains the team to beat based on their talent, and the team to hate based on their history of unsportsmanlike antics. Cental Cal has a great TEAM that has played together and a great player in Wiens. Balboa won the last tournment and Parfitt dominated that day. SCVC is the wild card, and unless they add to their talent pool will not make the finals. Until they beat one of the above, no Midwest/Eastcoast team can counted among the class of the best westcoast teams.

Very rarely int eh past years has their not been an upset in the early rounds which throws things out of wack. Since going to rally scoring and also the huge change in going to 48/32 OPEN teams their are no powder cakes.
Those two factors alone on top of the seeding process will throw those teams that you mentioned against each other on day 3 and 4. Just don't be on the wrong side of the bracket and your chances improve dramatically.
With Rally scoring to 25....anything ....anything can happen. Especially when you are dealing with HS kids.
It is going to be very interesting. The LBC needs to win a couple close matches in the June tourney in order for them to "come together".
I don't think SCVC will make it into the Final 4. Not explosive enough.
Not sure on LBC...but should be their.
I agree with the Central Cal pick to make it Final 4.
You might see a Seaside/Sant Barbara slip in as those kids are gamers.
My Darkhorses are RVC/EDEN/ADVERSITY

No he doesn't suck. Their team would not have won every tournament in the MIDwest if he did. Be fair now!
I think he might be the weakest player on their team....which is not a good thing to have but the other players are certainly good enough to compensate.
Don't be haten'
