I just looked at Pepp's beach roster and Strehlow's not listed. I thought she still had one more season of eligibility?

More schools will add sand but the only ones that'll have a chance at being competitive will be in Texas. Also I don't think any northern schools will really invest in the sport through separate coaches, athletes and facilities. Those Schools will only add the sport to help with recruiting indoor players. Again this year FSU won't be the best team Florida, I think FIU takes it and FAU is my sleeper.

Interesting to hear of one of the top players taking a redshirt this season.
Does no pairs competition affect players decisions to play or not? No chance to be a champion unless your school can field 5 quality pairs really limits what an individual school can do with a few stars or pairs.
The ruling by beach committee to eliminate pairs was very short sided. It basically shrinks opportunity for athletes to rise to the top of the sport.
Next they will issue participation trophies . They ruled team more important in trying to re-engineer the sport of beach volleyball. This is a setback to this emerging sport, imho.

Yes, perhaps one of the most dynamic players in the college game, indoor & beach.
Humble, talented, and pushed every player & every pair she played to be the best they could be, or loose.
She is so impactful her absence actually takes some of the wind out the sails of every program. You had to be your best to compete against her.
Whom is going to push and inspire H&C or both twins to higher levels like Sarah & Betsi did?
Parity by committee, politics & budgets. Everyone wished for NCAA sanctioning but they have cut the sport in half before they started. It's like a bad dream for so many athletes.
I for one will miss Sarah's athleticism, and warm smile whether win or loose.

That's what the west coast was saying about regular volleyball in the early 80's. (Volleyball would always be a west coast thing.) It didn't really go that way at all. I think it's a bold comment to count out any region of America and to call it like that. You never know but the sport is changing.

Sarah Sponcil is just too good for LMU. She belongs at a more prominent program, indoor and outdoor. It's like Tom Brady in his prime playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

LMU lost its other top 4 players via graduation. Makes sense that Sponcil sits out this year. Not sure who is coming up through the ranks this year that can play #1 with Sarah next year. Maybe John Mayer will be able to recruit that player. LMU is a great school to be at, but it is private and has no football team to help support the other sports financially.
