It counts. The Huskers are now listed at 1-0. "Closed match" means the match wasn't open to the public. Sorry, listed by whom? (Not trying be difficult, just curious what you are referring to.) Here is the NCAA rule: "Collegiate beach volleyball is an outdoor sport. Matches shall be played outdoors unless weather or court conditions threaten the health and safety of student-athletes. In the event of inclement weather, a team match shall be conducted indoors provided a regulation beach volleyball court(s) is available." I guess I'm referring to the Huskers.com article that states that the Huskers "start the season 1-0". When a match doesn't count, Huskers.com will specifically state that it is an exhibition match.

That gigantic background photo of the beach and ocean is kinda cheesy -- in an old-fashioned Hollywood set kind of way.

Play your own steady game consistently, and your team has as good a chance as any other in beating the Rainbows in Honolulu. The pairs and UH coaches are all over the place, and it doesn't appear to be "fixable" in the weekend's foreseeable future..a couple of days, only down-the-line, but nonetheless still a window of opportunity.
For as long as UH athletics places Shoji as Director of VB Operations--@head, making things quite uncomfortable for any who's HC of the Beach team--UH's Sand VB Team will always run stagnant behind the very elite. Ultimately Shoji should retire asap OR Hawai'i needs to cut as many threads between the indoor's team *ALWAYS the priority* and the SandBows.
Without Shoji spearheading the entire system, the Beach team would more conveniently move forward and upward.

The MBSU match does NOT count as a NCAA match, since it did not follow NCAA rules as cited above. NCAA rules take precedence over Huskers.com (but understandable they don't know scheduling rules for new sport). Even if it was played on two courts (another rule) and outside, it would not count as an NCAA match since Beach Volleyball is not a varsity sport at MBSU (or any NAIA school). The very best the MBSU match could be considered (if played outside on two courts) is an exhibition versus a club team. One exhibition versus a club team is allowed to count toward NCAA minimum number of competition dates, if other NCAA rules are followed. But even then, the exhibition does not count toward record, stats, etc.

The dual between Nebraska and Hawaii will be streamed online tonight! Last year, they only showed the No. 1's, so I'm assuming that's what they're doing again this year. I'm not sure when the stream will start. Huskers.com says it starts at 7pm CT. HawaiiAthletics.com says it starts at 4pm Hawaii time (which is 9pm CT). I will try to keep checking, and make a new post on here when they come on. watch here: ocsports.tvYou will need to sign in to view. The account is free, quick, and easy.
