IT seems to me that what USA Men's Volleyball is doing(which they have done before) if taking many of the younger collegiate players(not foreigners, obviously), and allowing them to train and hopefully develop with the USA program this summer. What a novel idea??? I would suspect that they have looked at most of these players all season long and have a reason for inviting them . What do you think? You never know who the next superstar will be now do you

The reputation of USAV in selecting youth and junior teams is a laughable one. Without singling out any individual player, suffice it to say that the correlation between selection for these teams and even college-level success is a very weak one. Don't believe me? Look at the USAV rosters for the past five years and then follow the kids throughout their eligibility years.

Evan Patak ... 6'8" Freshman opposite from UCSB out of Northern California. The reason you didn't see any stats from him this season because he red-shirted this year. UCSB had a young team this year and he would've gotten playing time (if not starting) as the opposite hitter, it was a strategic move on Preston's part as far as saving eligibility and scholarships for Evan. They kept stats in practices and scrimmages, Evan actually led all other opposites on the team in kills and digs. While he didn't show much this year but look out cuz he's gonna dominate next several years!!
