Is this really a serious question?
Or did your daughter's team lose a match in which you were yelling at the referee to call a lift?

In basketball, after a made basket, a player can run the baseline with the ball. If it is just an out of bounds play, it is traveling when the pivot foot is moved. In volleyball, ridiculous things are allowed on first contact by some refs.

Explain two instances when a player can carry the ball PLEASE HELP ME 1 instance I can think of is after the official blows the whistle for serve, before the contact for serve. I can't think of a 2nd one. Is it on serve receive? That seems to be allowed these days.

This should say are allowed by the rule book. not allowed by the rule book. you cannot "carry" the ball under any circumstance. I am aware of that. My comment was in reference to "ridiculous things are allowed by the refs." The refs do not make the rules. They make decisions and judgments based on what the rule book allows. Therefore, ridiculous things are allowed on first contact by the rule book.

but that comment was in reference to carrying the ball. and carrying the ball is not allowed on the first contact. the fault lies with the refs not the rule book.
