I was wondering who people think is the best incoming pure middle. I think most would agree the best all around skilled middle is Fitzmorris, but at the under armour all America match I though Ronika Stone was the superior pure front row middle.

There is a good chance that most of these players won't even start, at least at MB, their freshmen year.
I'm going with Stone solely because she's almost guaranteed to start, and Oregon isn't breaking in a new setter.
Who knows who will emerge as the best 3/4 years from now.

I predict Fitzmorris doesn't play middle next year. She goes on the left with Inky and Lutz in the middle. DS'ed by Hentz or McKenna.

Had the opportunity to watch Pittman and Fitzmorris this weekend here in Dallas. It's not even close. Pittman is much more dynamic attacking the ball. Who knows what they will be 4 years from now. All I can go by is what I have seen over the last 4 years. Fitzmorris was incredible 4 years ago compared to the competition. Now she is good. She is a novel player in that she is 6'6" and can play the back row, but at open level competition, which is a very high level, but probably not as great as the PAC week in and week out, she is not that impressive of an attacker. She plays all across the front row and is most effective in the middle. Most teams have a kid just as good at scoring on the pin, if not better. I would definitely give her the advantage over Pittman in blocking, but not offensively. The bang to hype ratio just isn't there. But there is good news for Stanford. The other national player of the year they are getting is every bit as good as the hype. Gray will be the best setter in the PAC, perhaps in the country if she keeps progressing!

Watching the UA game I was more impressed with Pittman. Fast arm and strong. Fitz was good all around but in middle play seems much slower than Pittman.

As a Stanford fan, even I agree that Pittman is very dynamic. However, Fitzmorris is a smart player who knows where to put the ball. There's a reason why she's had much success even at the international level. Her blocking skills are great and her ability to run the slide and attack on the left or right just as good as she attacks in the middle gives her advantages. I'm glad that Fitzmorris chose Stanford and I am absolutely stoked to see what she brings to the table. However I am interested in your evaluation of gray. The PAC 12 won't have the premier type setter next year (like SSS or Carlini). Watching Gray this year, she is a very consistent setter and can pound the ball too. I agree that her improvement has been very good. Excited to see her in action too.

What are the parameters of the poll? are we picking players we think are the best right now, will eventually be the best in the class after it's all said and done, or the freshmen middles who will have the most impact right away? IMO Fitz, Pittman, Agbaji, and Strivins probably don't even start next year.

I know Texas has Ogbogu as a lock, but you think Johnson will start? I can see some possibility for the others not to start, but I think Agbaji probably has the biggest possibility to start

Abaji is still kind of raw, especially compared to these other players on the list. I am not saying johnson WILL start, I'm saying it's very likely she will.

It is sooooo interesting to see how players that were dominant when they were 14 or 15 are no longer the same player. And there are also lots of examples of kids who did not get noticed early in their career who are now the better players in their class, even though many people refuse to change their views as the girls have progressed (good or bad). It's a flaw in the recruiting process that it happens so early, especially for girls. Leah Edmond is a great example and so is Brianna Haugen, both late bloomers. In the 2016 class, the setter position is probably the best example where the rankings really should have changed a lot in the last 12 months, as body types, athleticism and skill-sets have evolved.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Stivrins probably won't start at Nebraska next year when there will be both a first & second team AA returning at MB.

Who will be the back-up MB come this fall? Tiana? Olivia? Both are listed as OH.
