I think they have a shot at the elite 8 but not final four. Just think Nebraska, USC, Washington and Minnesota are just a bit better than them. Maybe just a little more solid in every position.

I think that UH has to beat a "formidable opponent" OFF THE ISLAND, before they can be considered a serious FF threat! That could still happen, however

Everyone doubted this team before the season. I don't think we should doubt them now. It could happen. If not, all starters will be back and better then ever next year. I like them when they were ranked #13. They didn't have a target on their back like they do now.

So the only "formidable" opponent remaining on the schedule is Utah and I don't know that they really qualify as "formidable".

I assumed (incorrectly) that the conference format was home/away with each member. It would be nice if the WAC did away with the end of season tournament and just played the usual home/away format. That way I would get to go to Hawai'i more!

The WAC Championship or the NCAA Championship!? Yes and no. I meant the NCAA championship. If not UH then who do you think will win the NCAA championship?

So, why is UH ranked higher than Nebraska and USC? I don't quite understand why UH is ranked so high. Because Hawai'i is undefeated, and both USC and Nebraska have losses. Both were ranked higher than the Wahine to start the season. Hawai'i moved up with wins, Nebraska and USC moved down with losses.

So, why is UH ranked higher than Nebraska and USC? I don't quite understand why UH is ranked so high. UH is ranked ahead of Nebraska and USC because of Nebraska's upset loss at home to unranked (at the time) FAMU and (in part) because of USC's upset loss at home to lower-ranked Cal. Both Nebraska and USC had to be "punished" in the rankings for those losses. Hawaii is undefeated so it continues to rise as other teams lose. However, the general consensus (at least on this board) appears to be that in a head-to-head NU-UH matchup or USC-UH matchup, UH would come out the loser. On paper, looking at the "talent" levels of the three teams, it would appear that USC has the experience and physical edge over Hawaii and that Nebraska has more highly decorated/rated players than Hawaii. I don't necessarily subscribe to the general belief that Hawaii lose to either of these teams. I do think that if Hawaii continues to work hard in practice and improves through the rest of the season, they will have a shot at the NCAA championship. But there are a lot of other good teams out there, too -- Washington, Minnesota, Nebraska, USC, Texas and Ohio State, to name just a few. The thing that UH has going for it is its ability to play well under pressure so far, but those matches have for the most part been at home and against top 20 teams, but not necessarily top 5 teams (yes, UCLA was at #3 when they played UH, but UCLA has dropped dramatically since then). Come regional time, Hawaii will surely be playing on the road (since the 4 regional sites have already been set) and against much tougher competition. They will have to improve a great deal between now and then in order to have a realistic shot at the championship.

but.... but... I thought that everyone who made the tourney had a "shot" at the Championship Or do you mean a decent shot? I had the same thought, but held back on the sarcastic comments.

Does anybody think that the UH rainbow wahine have a shot at the championship this year? The Wahine have suffered the last few years due to the dominance of Stanford and USC. This year anything is possible. Detroit in 5?
