Game Scores: 30-23, 30-28, 30-22
First ever victory for Boise State over Fresno State.
Game can be summarized by looking at attack percentage-- Fresno hit .167, . 073 and .111.and Boise State hit .282, .047 and .310).
Fresno definitely missed the consistant hammer--and ball-control-- of Fenton of years past. Ball-control was spotty and the Fresno offense became very predictable (high ball in the middle then high ball outside). I am not sure if they ran more than 2-3 slides all night. Boise was getting 2 blockers up on everything and had defense alligned well behind. While technically Fresno outblocked Boise State 8 to 7.5, Boise touched a ton more balls., and Fresno did not react well when the ball came back at them (causing a lot of unforced Fresno errors that do not come out on the stat sheet).
Again Boise State played consistantly, and with a focus that had been missing last week vs. SJSU. They won virtually all the "scramble points"--points which can turn the emotion of the match. Boise just stayed in it--and Fresno would almost inevitably give away strings of points (service errors, getting aced, hitting errors).. Offense was fast and varied (5 players with 5+ kills).
Nevada comes to Boise on Sat. afternoon after a long trip from El Paso.
