I'm trying to figure out if the blackout of the FIVB Youtube and Laola1.tv channels in the United States is because of the TV deal between USA Volleyball and NBC. Or if the FIVB has separate deal with NBC. Anyone know the answer to this?

The FIVB makes the broadcast deals with local broadcasters for each country. In the USA, that is NBC. If there is a broadcast deal in place, FIVB live streaming will not work for that region. Some deals in certain countries include live streaming rights, some don't. In Germany, Sport Deutschland purchased the streaming rights for Germany, so Germans will still be blacked out from FIVB YouTube stream, but can watch on Sport Deutschland's site.
Unfortuneately for Americans, it means that you're stuck waiting for NBC to show it or stream it. They rarely do that and when they do, it's never live.
Although, last week, whoever setup the geography blackouts forgot to add the USA one and people were able to watch. I think it was just someone forgetting to click a checkbox on YouTube, we'll see with future events are available.
