ANAHEIM - The Southern Pacific Girls' IBVL (Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League) in Southern California released the 2016 high school team playoff brackets today. The IBVL began in 2012 as a program of the Southern Pacific Volleyball Committee (an AAU district in Southern California with boundaries from San Luis Obispo in the north to Orange County in the south) with eight schools in one league to nine divisions and one conference in 2016 with fifty participating varsity programs.
The brackets are posted at www.ibvl.org along with final standings from each division and conference. Top teams from each division earn berths into the single elimination draw with playoffs beginning on Thursday, May 5 and continuing through Sat., May 21. In addition, the IBVL Pairs Championship will take place on Sat., May 21 at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles, CA with each institution earning, at least, one entry.
Three time defending champion, Mira Costa High School from Manhattan Beach is looking for a fourth title out of five seasons which went 10-0 this season and winning the Bay Division. Second seeded Mater Dei from Santa Ana is also undefeated and won the Trinity Division, while third seeded Westlake from Westlake Village also capped an undefeated season and also winning the Marmonte Division. Rounding out the top four, Sierra Canyon, also undefeated and clinching the Mountain Division.
The IBVL is a boys and girls program of the Southern Pacific Volleyball Committee which is a division of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, Inc. and operated out of the west coast office in Anaheim, California.
