A little saccharine for my taste. It reads like each team's mom got to write a blurb about them.
Casebeer/Olson's upside is "very up." I guess that string of 17ths they put up was more impressive than I thought.
The Crabbs have "proven they can be counted among the best teams in the world?" Does he mean at beach volleyball? They finished 9th at the weakest tournament of the year.
"There were questions about if they could get it done against the international monsters . . . now we have an answer"
Kerri/April going three sets twice in an Open with no top ten teams attending is "simply on another level?" In the Final they went to overtime in the third against the 13th seeded team, a team currently ranked outside the World top 25. They also went three with Lane/Summer who had to qualify. That was a poor performance by April/Kerri and they were lucky to win.
Finally, in characterizing Nick and Phil's embarassing loss, Mark labels them "superhuman."

I thought it was a bit fluffy too, but that is the problem when he is writing about his peers. can't say "Olson not dynamic to make any major impact" Or "USA Men get chili results" I liked is articles on AVP.com.

Agreed. Mark can't lose a potential future partnership because of something negative he wrote in an article. He is a smart guy.

I understand why he wrote it the way he did I guess. But most of the people don't know the guys like most of us know them or follow it as close as we do.

I agree. Also with Semp about losing a future partner. He should stick to stuff like the first part about the considerations that go into an event. I would have loved to read him applying that to a situation, or how he got back together with Hudson etc. I liked his piece about being a Volleybum
