Rice Coach Wilson Resigns

According to this head coach John Wilson is leaving after only one season to "pursue other interests" I just can't help feeling that there is more to this story than meets the eye. Wilson is an experienced coach (he was head coach at Duke for many years), Rice had a decent season this past year, so why would you leave after only one season.

Anyone out there have some insight into this? However this must really hurt recruiting to be on your third head coach a little over 2 years.

I'll see if I can find out anything about why he resigned. I no longer have many friends in OwlLand but a few are still around.

Didn't he leave the team for a week without any explanation to his players?

There was some controversy when he was hired, if I remember correctly, because of his past.

Also, Deitre Collins applied for the Rice position when it was open prior to this past season. Perhaps Deitre will apply again now that she's looking for a job?
