Best chance is to move out to California. Start playing CBVA and also AVP Qualifiers while training with that core group of players during the week. If you are good enough and don't mind the financial sacrifice, you should eventually start qualifying for some of their events.

Well, the road is different for guys and girls. It's clear the best path for girls is NCAA. But it needs to start before that.
While the "must move to SoCal" is there for the elite, it has to start much earlier than that.
The East coast / mid west offers plenty of options with large amounts of different tours and tournaments. NVL, EEVB (VolleyAmerica), Dig the beach, EVP, etc.
Play with as many people as possible, and always try to get a partner you think is better than you. Be humble, and true about evaluating your game (it isn't always your partner's fault). Watch and learn, see what makes players successful.
If you get to the point where you are placing top 3 in the smaller tours, start playing in the AVP Q's (and AVPNext). You should commit to playing a full season of Qualifiers, getting points is the biggest need, you don't want to play against the #8 team, and the #1 team as a 25th seeded team.
These are the players/teams that didn't make it out of the Q this pas weekend, understand it isn't easy, a bunch of these players are really good and big. 17 Tom Kohler Jake Rosener Q7 $0.00 190.0 17 Jason Medero Kevin Villela Q8 $0.00 190.0 17 Cody Kessel Dylan Maarek Q19 $0.00 190.0 17 Connor Hughes Travis Woloson Q21 $0.00 190.0 21 Maddison McKibbin Riley McKibbin Q3 $0.00 150.0 21 Miles Evans Spencer McLachlin Q5 $0.00 150.0 21 Raffe Paulis Ian Satterfield

How many teams are in the AVP on the men's side? Does this vary? Standard expect MBO is 16 teams. 12 highest ranked teams are auto berths, 4 via the qualifier. NVL follows the same format too. Qualifers are usually not capped team-wise for the AVP, I think in some locations they can be for NVL.
