I think she calls summer. Summer sides out better than lane IMO, summer can block and summer sets better than lane. I think April is on of the better (not best) defenders and the best at transition siding out for points when she does did a ball which is huge!
April don't block any better than summer. I would say about the same. But April blocking and lane defender doesn't strike me as a really really good team.

Summer is definitely better but Ross/Ross would be very slow. Probably Lane that is what I was thinking. what about Urango? I think Lane and Geena are pretty similar but Lane maybe has a little more upside. I dont see either ever being good enough to win an FIVB. Or more than one anyway.

I'd love to hear breakdowns on the following players:
Amanda Dowdy Angela Bensend Betsi Flint Caitlin Ledoux Emily Day Emily Stockman Geena Urango Irene Hester Pollock Kelley Larsen Kelly Reeves Kim DiCello Sarah Day
Top Blockers, Top Smalls. where the difference in tiers break?
Also, I want to add in Jace Pardon and Brittany Tiegs. both these girls can play, I look at them both being defensive players though. I'm leaving out some of the girls still in school, thinking of next year only.

She and April would side out very well, but April would need to serve at her best for them to score points. April is the best player who plays defense but the actual defending is a weak spot. She isnt terrible but there are several who are better and April has looked slow this year. Plus playing behind Kerri and playing behind Summer is a heck of adjustment. If I am a hitter, especially one with good court vision, I am drooling at hitting against the Ross twins

I'd love to hear breakdowns on the following players: Amanda Dowdy Angela Bensend Kim DiCello To me these three all have the same issue. They aren't dynamic enough in their hitting or blocking. Maybe sneak a win when the top players are on international duty but much more Fendrick than EY. All 5th placersBetsi Flint Caitlin Ledoux Emily Day average at everything, good at nothing. Maybe the best of this lot but will never be good enough. 3rd place for lifeEmily Stockman Geena Urango Irene Hester Pollock Kelley Larsen Kelly Reeves Sarah Day Top Blockers, Top Smalls. where the difference in tiers break? Also, I want to add in Jace Pardon and Brittany Tiegs. both these girls can play, I look at them both being defensive players though. Reeves is the one I'm at least somewhat intrigued by in terms of potential. I only caught glimpses of her at SF, but she impressed me. A pretty solid defender with real offense. Wouldn't be surprised to see Emily Day and her give it a go next year.

I haven't seen Reeves play much, which is odd because I always try to watch Ali's matches. I did see the beatdown they got from Claes/Hughes. What seems odd to me about the US women is how there isn't much athleticism out there.
Sara Hughes excepted who has the best jump on the women's side? Who is the fastest player? Maybe Lane?

Kendra VZ as a possible fastest? Good question about jump, not sure

If you look into the USAV HP program, they perform speed drills as part of their athletic analysis.
Hughes regularly beat everyone in the star drill, sprints, broad jump and vertical. She was a state champion in track in the 50 & 100 until she gave up track and being a top point guard in basketball to focus on indoor and beach once in high school.
Not many defenders taking the like of KW in jousts at the net and winning.
Lane seems to be very similarly gifted in speed, jump and agility. The only time they teamed up the won the local and Puerto Rican Norceca.

I watched a bit of that match too and Reeves didn't seem to get served much, so it would have been difficult to judge her game. I think there's truth about lack of athleticism in part because during the downward period of the AVP the beach game wasn't attracting top athletes. The best indoor players headed to pro teams instead of giving the beach a go.

1. Who wins Olympic Gold on both sides? Bruno/Alison, Ludwig/Walkenhorst 2. Do Claes/Hughes win a tournament? Yes, they'll win the World University Games 3. Whats the highest Claes/Hughes finish in an FIVB? Sounds like they may only play in Long Beach. I predict they finish 9th there. 4. Are there any new winners on the AVP this year? If so who? Only two tournaments left, so no. 5. Does Kerri retire post-Olympics, if so, who does April play with? No. She's already had a family, so she'll continue to play domestically for awhile - as long as the AVP gives her appearance fees. Seems quite likely to me that April would take a break after this season to start a family. 6. Do Summer/Lane win? Again, only two AVPs left, so as long as April/Kerri play, probably not. 7. Which teams break up? Day/Hochevar, McColloch/Reeves, Dowdy/Stockman, Allen/Brunner, Hyden/Bourne, Crabb/Crabb. Bourne will start the dominos when he and Hyden split. Also, can't see why Lane/Summer would split. They've improved throughout the year and, from the outside, seem to enjoy playing with each other. Hey, I don't want to toot my horn, but I'm the only one in this thread who correctly picked the Olympic winners. What's the prize?

Thats because they didn't play the Bronze Bombers!! They play Kerri & April VB against a team they beat 9out of 10 times, the podium looks a lot different.....I know...Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda....Really I am over it......Yes, Laura & Kira played a great tourney and deserved the Gold.....#Tokyo2020

Why not just call them the Failure Femmes, it means the same thing more or less.
