Hey all,
I thought it would be fun to get some opinions on how the rest of the season goes. Specifically:
1. Who wins Olympic Gold on both sides?
2. Do Claes/Hughes win a tournament?
3. Whats the highest Claes/Hughes finish in an FIVB?
4. Are there any new winners on the AVP this year? If so who?
5. Does Kerri retire post-Olympics, if so, who does April play with?
6. Do Summer/Lane win?
7. Which teams break up?
My Answers:
1. Who wins Olympic Gold on both sides? Kerri/April, Phil/Nick
2. Do Claes/Hughes win a tournament? Yes
3. Whats the highest Claes/Hughes finish in an FIVB? 5th
4. Are there any new winners on the AVP this year? If so who? Only Claes/Hughes
5. Does Kerri retire post-Olympics, if so, who does April play with? No, but if she does, Summer Ross
6. Do Summer/Lane win? No
7. Which teams break up? Brunner/Allen, Carico/Ross, Dowdy/Stockman, Doherty/Mayer, Hyden/Bourne

I think C & H are done with AVP's for the season.
Norceca in Canada , World University Games in Estonia, Norceca Cuba and hopefully a Wildcard into Long Beach FIVB, then back to USC.
No HB because the Avp was at same time as NCAA , no Seattle because USAV required them to attend the U23 tryouts and tourney.
No MB since they will be in Estonia.
It is difficult to schedule pro events when your master is NCAA and USAV .

You basically play for USAV's system. Everyone does. If your a youth and want their training you need to be "on a team" or in the HP program. If you want to compete in Norceca's and Youth FIVB events you need to work within the schedules of USAV. You do represent the USA, so they are your master franchise no matter what age you are.

Hey all, I thought it would be fun to get some opinions on how the rest of the season goes. Specifically: 1. Who wins Olympic Gold on both sides? Bruno/Alison over Phil/Nick and Kerri/April 2. Do Claes/Hughes win a tournament? No to AVP or FIVB this year 3. Whats the highest Claes/Hughes finish in an FIVB? 7th 4. Are there any new winners on the AVP this year? If so who? Yes, Crabbs 5. Does Kerri retire post-Olympics, if so, who does April play with? Kerri will play next year, April goes into baby mode. 6. Do Summer/Lane win? Yes, Chicago 7. Which teams break up? Don't think any of the men split this year. Points too much of a factor. However, to start next year: Hyden & Jake each retire from FIVB some of the other teams will depending on which direction Tri goes. I'd say Mayer, but he's a college HC. the splits that are going to happen on the women's side happened, until next year.

1. Who wins Olympic Gold on both sides? Bruno/Alison, Ludwig/Walkenhorst
2. Do Claes/Hughes win a tournament? Yes, they'll win the World University Games
3. Whats the highest Claes/Hughes finish in an FIVB? Sounds like they may only play in Long Beach. I predict they finish 9th there.
4. Are there any new winners on the AVP this year? If so who? Only two tournaments left, so no.
5. Does Kerri retire post-Olympics, if so, who does April play with? No. She's already had a family, so she'll continue to play domestically for awhile - as long as the AVP gives her appearance fees. Seems quite likely to me that April would take a break after this season to start a family.
6. Do Summer/Lane win? Again, only two AVPs left, so as long as April/Kerri play, probably not.
7. Which teams break up? Day/Hochevar, McColloch/Reeves, Dowdy/Stockman, Allen/Brunner, Hyden/Bourne, Crabb/Crabb. Bourne will start the dominos when he and Hyden split. Also, can't see why Lane/Summer would split. They've improved throughout the year and, from the outside, seem to enjoy playing with each other.

Craw, good call on McColloch Reeves. I'd like to see Reeves upgrade.
Also, what's the skinny on Sarah Day? thought she had some potential.
Does anyone think USAV will start suggesting partners?? if they aren't already?

Summer is definitely better but Ross/Ross would be very slow. Probably Lane

Summer is definitely better but Ross/Ross would be very slow. Probably Lane The problem with Lane is she seems much more comfortable on the left and don't see April switching to the right. This is actually a long-term issue for Carico, since you really want your dominant hitter on the left to facilitate the hit on two. I still don't see April and Kerri breaking up right away. Assuming Kerri's shoulder isn't falling off (big assumption) then why not play at least another season to reap some of that post-Olympic hype?
