Any news on this? Was it serious? Will it affect the rest of the season?
(just for reference purposes)

My question on the video how much time did he miss after this game? If he had the Olympics in less than 3 weeks would he be playing that day still of so?

Unfortunately, in this sport, the Olympics is still the #1 tournament to win. I think it was the right choice for Phil to stop. It wasn't completely minor, as he was clearly affected by his calf.
I'm hoping it was more of a camp than a muscle pull. That match was shaping up to be epic. Some of the plays made were crazy good.

Calf strains aren't easy to get rid off. Hopefully his wasn't too serious. I'm surprised he isn't wearing some compression calf sleeves as those are quite helpful for people with recurring calf injuries.

Its the Hov, he played the next week (and took 2nd) I agree with JB this is the right decision for Phil, just making a larger point about modern players being p***ies. Phil tends to be very injury prone. I wonder if thats just his body type, age, or if its something correctable?

Come on.... that guys were tougher in the good old days narrative is so ridiculous. Firstly, we're talking about beach volleyball here. There have always been guys who have missed time to injuries or had issues with conditioning and so on. Phil went years before he started having any health issues. It is understandable at this point of his career to be breaking down once in a while.
