For a Karchee I'm surprised he hasn't kept you in the loop. Your dog whistle criticism of Hooker and by implication Tom is also by default an indictment of Hugh. All this nonsense talk about how team unity (kumbaya) somehow gives the USA an advantage must be part of your Karchee exceptionalism that blinds you to the team spirit on the Dutch, Brazilian, Korean, etc teams. They all are displaying the exact same spirit. And to bring you up to date on Hooker I will post a statement attributed to Karch and give you a link to the article. I bet even if the US won gold, those sadly deluded Hooker fans will still argue the team would have won easier with Hooker.
Give it a rest guys. Its a meaningless debate. Move on, get a life.
Most importantly focus on what is important, how the whole TEAM USA will do.

Might have already been said on this thread, but maybe Netherlands are the real darkhorse. They beat China and they almost beat the US, maybe they can beat Serbia too. In that case, perhaps we should look at Netherlands as the potential "upset" threat, more so than Serbia? Not after that injury. And I don't see her coming back to form anytime soon. Ankles are hard to recover from. You saw how they pretty much fell apart without their captain. |

Maret Balkenstein-Grothues, the 5-10 lefty outside Dutch captain. She was dealing with an injury before Rio and this may have been a reaggravation. She's their most solid passer and her absence could hurt the Netherlands greatly. |

DataVollley Stats are up. Grothues was having a heck of a match before she went down - hitting .500, 67% exc/50% pos receiving with no errors. Despite the worry about setting to Foluke, she hit .529.

I couldn't see what happened to Balkestein-Grothues, but the commentator on the stream mentioned that she's had some issues with her achilles, which might explain why she was holding her thigh (when the achilles snaps it rolls up the leg). Either way it looked pretty bad and I don't see her being able to come back for the remainder of the OG.
