With the Olympics going on and no AVP, a few AVP teams have elected to play Seaside. Surprised to see Drost/Kolinske with the 7th seed. I don't recognize many of the names seeded ahead of them. Is the tournament really that strong, that two guys both ranked in the top 15 on the AVP get the 7th seed?

I'll be there myself and anybody can follow the Men's Open division through AES. Here's a URL tinyurl.com/go9snu9. No the tournament isn't real strong but some AVP pros did make it up. Derek Olson.. done with his "time off" will be playing with ARiza Kolinske/Drost I believe the top two teams seeding wise are Canadians; the Casey brothers and Wiskar / Del Bianco ON the women's side.. Larson and Flint I think will have a pretty easy time taking the $3500 on the women's side. They'll play the 2014 champs the Pellitteri sisters in the first round but I don't think've even played a tourney this year. Bateman/Smith made the Manhattan main draw but it was their first time.

There were rumblings on facebook about the terrible seeding.

To be fair, these types of tournaments are tough to seed, balancing out local talent with teams from around the country. To be honest, it's a bad job of seeding, and some very strong teams will meet way before they should.

I thought because of the avp contract, they couldn't play other money making events, or is the rule just regarding the nvl?
