Yeah, the women deserve equal pay - they are equally as pathetic as the men's team. Awesome job on the last PK Miss Hope you get zika Solo

Wasn't Solo's fault.

I've seen 8 year olds make a better effort on the last PK, especially after the stall tactic - bush league stuff and is really non debatable

Solo was getting blasted by the sports radio guys in Seattle today, based on a statement she made after the match. She said that the Swedish team were cowards (apparently because they played for a tie and going to PKs rather than try to open up the game). Sounds like they had a plan and executed it.
When you are playing a team that is better than you are, the more you can remove the "skill" aspect of the game and emphasize the "luck" aspect, the better your chances are. The US women's soccer team should be used to other teams trying to do that, I would think.

A lackadaisical performance in the Olympics after all the bellyaching - especially Solo's performance - doesn't show much in the way of heart IMHO. They have enjoyed a much higher success level than the men's side, who are completely over compensated, but up until last year still did not top the men in generating revenue. Here is actually an interesting outline of it: www.nytimes.com/2016/04/22/sports/soccer/usmnt-uswnt-soccer-equal-pay.html?_r=0 It will be very interesting to see what happens to the women's financials for 2017 as the US federation was factoring in at least a medal at the Olympics in the budget forecast.

Womens teams from other countries get even less support than their male counterparts.

Hard to say they were better when Sweden had the winner disallowed I didn't see it, but I have read accounts of the match that say both teams had goals disallowed for being offside, but that replays showed neither goal should have been disallowed. That seems like a wash.

ESPN 1000 in Chicago was talking the other day that inside sources say majority of this team and USA staff would love to find another option instead of Hope, however there just is not one available.
She continues to be a terrible role model for youth that unfortunately look up to her for her skill set while possibly being unaware of the character she represents.
It is unfortunate that they are handcuffed by dare I say "needing" her, but maybe they take a page out of Karch's book in the near future.

Hope Solo needs to apologize, then keep her mouth shut for an entire year, then apologize again.

Hope Solo quote on Twitter: Seems likely to be as close to an apology for the "cowards" comment as she is able to offer. When you read more of what she said, it makes more sense. Lots of stuff like they won, we lost, tip your hat, they executed their game plan, etc. But man, I think she would know by now that if she provides a soundbite like "We played a bunch of cowards", the media is going to run with it. This isn't Solo's first rodeo. www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/la-sp-oly-rio-2016-hope-solo-doesn-t-hold-back-after-u-s-1471031683-htmlstory.htmlSweden's coach responded: "It's OK to be a coward if you win."

Sweden's coach Pia Sundhage is the former US Women's coach, has a pretty good understanding of the US Women's team
