the fact that there is even an option to watch the matches live online or via an app is a feat in itself.
we've come a long way. so i can deal with the commercial interruptions at odd moments. sure it's annoying. but i remember in past olympics having to scan the tv guides (paper and in later years, digital) to see when vball would be aired, b/c that was the only option ... and even then, it'd be tape delayed, aired at a really inconvenient time (here in hawaii), and edited with a hacksaw ...
The US coverage, which I gave up on almost immediately is lousy and they had plenty of time to prepare and improve based on what other networks did last time
exactly, having options to watch live online and in full ... those are all recent developments in the last olympics and this one. can the coverage be better? sure. my 'we've come a long way comment' references having to watch the olympics back as a kid, as compared to now.
like someone mentioned above, i've hardly watched NBC's pre-packed evening broadcasts. when i've wanted to watch an event, i've been fortunate to watch through their app or online. my complaints about nbc live streaming are minor. i haven't tried the CBC option yet, and i'll definitely look into it. again though, it's pretty amazing that we even have such options.
