Iran up 12-10 at first t/o by Italy on a hitting error by Alanza. Iran looks good early making their shots and limiting errors.

Opening set goes to Italy 31-29.
Crazy volleyball neither of these teams want to go home.
Juantorena got going late for Italy they ran a couple X1s to give him open swings and he converted.
Irans strength seems to be on the OPP. Both teams though are distributing the ball well.

I can see how this Iran team took Poland to 5 (but lost). They hit very well, but can't get stops.
They're basically trading points with Italy, so the sporadic errors (i.e. getting roofed) accrete, and Italy just don't give them back.

Italy wins 25-17. Takes the match Ina 3-0 sweep.
The USA will face them in the semi's it should be a very interesting match. We block a lot better than Iran. We need to control Zaystsev and Juantorena, also Biarelli is playing well in the middle. I like our chances. It should be a very exciting match.

Italy +29+19+17 Iran. Iran just couldn't slow down Italy's sharp attack.
Normally, Italy's good to pop a fuse or two, but today nothing bothered them.
USA has improved: we have Sander back to nearly normal, and our serves are working. Game on!
