I saw Italy vs. Iran, and will not be easy to beat these guys. Big issues:
1st-How to stop Zaytsev? He is an animal, full of "rage", his serves and hits blasted the iranians.
2Nd-how to upset Giannelli's setting? Iranians were too soft in terms of serving. Anderson, Christenson, Sander and Holt must be On a good day, otherwise Giannelli put the ball where he wants.
3rd- Will be our receivers in a good day? Since the match against Brazil, passing improved, not the best of the world, but have been decent.
Finally, we need an element, that help us a lot against Brazil, France and Poland:ENERGY!!

We will have adjusted our play after our first go around with Italy during pool play. Now we know what they've got plus we've gotten a lot better. I like our odds going in this time. We didn't get blown out of the water and we were playing like crap the first go around. I bet Italy is concerned this time. Have faith.

What Reach said. USA is playing so much better and serving so much tougher. I expect this match to be an entirely different match from the pool round. Zaytsev is his own worst enemy. He is too emotional. If things go badly, his performance goes south quickly.

Zaytsev is a hard guy to like, he just comes across as all about himself. I find myself wondering what his teammates think.
But I have not seen him fall apart at any time. He is a great opp and the leader of the Italian team. I am hoping that Anderson shows he is Zaytsev's equal, and that Micah finds him all game long.
I like the US in this match, they have the edge in lib and setter, and that usually makes the difference.

Like all men's games it's going to come down to who serves best at the end of the set. Please be USA

I think Zaytsev is hoping to show that he is Anderson's equal. Zaytsev is flashy..... lots of spectacular plays... lots of balls out. Anderson is a much more consistent offensive threat.

Stop Juantorena. That's how to stop Italy. He is the main reason why Italy has been undefeated in this Olympic Games.

Zaytsev is only part of the problem. Juantorena is another. Contain both and U.S.A should be fine. Or not.

I think Zaytsev was born in Italy.....his dad was playing there??? Cuba is a mess. has been for a while. Put Juantorena with Leon....very nice set of OHs.

Juantorena, Leon and Marshall would make an unstoppable trio of pin hitters.. Cuba needs to rethink their polices on letting players leave to make a living. Cuba could be a top 3 team in the world if they weren't so thick in the head. Dingos...
