What if.....
There were 3 players on a team. Only two played on the court for a team like they do now. The only other rule change would be the coach could be next to the court and be allowed to coach and sub in players.
If a player got caught doping or if a player is injured or cramping, the sub could fill in and the team would be able to continue to play.
A rule would be that no player could serve twice in a row.
The sub would have to develop skills to play on both sides and maybe could be kind of be used as a designated server if one player lacks serving skills.

If you have unlimited changes you may end up with a situation where you have 2 side out players and one defense specialist who can also serve.

Forced rotation concept would be interesting too - or only allow one change per set.

I don't like this idea. the whole point of beach 2s, is that you can't hide.
It'd be like having a 2 person team for the decathlon...It's defeating the purpose.
I would be interested in seeing matches scored like tennis. who win games to win the set, a team serves for a whole game.

Having some 4s competition at the top level would be neat as a complement for the standard 2s format.
