Whether you were there or as most of us did watched a ton of matched on tv and/or stream, what did you like, what didn't you like, what would you keep, get rid of, change, tweak, etc...
For me, I watched a massive, massive amount of volleyball, probably streamed 2 to 3+ matches a day, and a couple of beach matches in there as well. The level was insane, this was definitely some of the best volleyball I've ever seen. You could tell from the players how much of themselves they were putting into it.
That said, having every single game streamed was amazing. What I didn't like about it were, at least as far as the nbc app and web page, that unless you had a cable or satellite account, you couln't watch it (there are ways around this, I understand that). This wasn't an issue for me though, just a notion. Streaming still gets them advertising and adverts happen in the streams, thus trying to justfiy the allowability of it by being a paid subscriber seemed doubly bad.
In terms of the broadcasts, I wish we had better play by play and color commentators, but we don't. Sadly, Sunderland and Barnett are the best we have. The best ones seemed to be the brits on the streams of beach and indoor. but that might be personal taste and hearing Sunderland saying "rips it into the cross court" too many times.
In terms of the replay system - it needs some tweaking and for players and coaches to better understand how it works. For example: having to call a challenge mid play seems counter-productive. Essentially the way it is supposed to work is you stop play, at least from how it was described. Personally, I think you should call a challenge, let the point play out, and if the team issuing the challenge wins the point, move on. Further, I am in the same boat as Barnett on the accuracy of the Hawkeye system. I would like to see a camera on the ball hitting and seeing that as well as the video reenactment. I remember a replay in a World League match where a ball was replayed clearly out, but video replay showed it easily on the line. Granted, that was pre-olympics, so they had time to tweak the system, but the point stands, I would like to see both until there is enough confidence in the system. And if there is a discrepency, replay the point.
Also in terms of the broadcasts, can we see less post point slo-mos on players faces. Spend more time talking about the point and the replay instead of slow motion screams.
If you were there, what was your overall impression of the games, the flow, the crowds, etc..
