We do live in the age of social media justice existing purely to ruin peoples' lives. In a situation where Lochte, and the other USA swimmers involved, are paying the price for their actions I would agree that the vitriol has gone pretty far. He's served his role as the scapegoat and hopefully he will continue to pay the proper price for it.
Luckily he probably won't have to wait too long for the next victim to expose themselves. Look at how quickly we moved past Hope Solo. There will always be some idiot athlete to rake over the coals.

By any standard imaginable Lochte has already suffered well beyond a reasonable punishment. How many known domestic abusers, drug cheats etc. competed at these games and were given a free pass by the media. If we are ok with Brittany Grenier on our national team can we really spend two weeks crucifying a guy who peed on a wall?

I'm not sure who's suggesting he's paying the proper price for his actions, it certainly isn't me! In my opinion enough is enough now. Because he's a celebrity he'll get his shot at redemption during DWTS, and considering how gregarious he is I don't see it getting much worse for him. I bet he'll do much better at presenting a positive picture of himself than Solo did.

And it really is beyond reasonable punishment. Are people really made that he "made Rio" look bad? Quite odd considering how many athletes faced difficulties during these games, including a real gun robbery to that British athlete. I think people just want to find an excuse to promote their agendas.

Lochte deserved public admonition for his embellished tale and I am not a fan of his, but yeah, enough is enough. He has brought home 6 gold medals and is one of the reasons USA swimming has been so dominant.

I form my own opinions, instead of blindly following someone else's, e.g., Kerri Walsh.

I support dumb ass too, in fact, I underestimated his stupidity as I didn't think he had it in him to concoct the whole story….now with that said, there was a bit of truth to his story - there were people dressed in uniforms, there was a gun, and he had to part with some cash. So if I put on my Hillary Clinton garb - men dressed as police waved a gun at me and robbed me. It sounds 100% believable when I say it in her tone. Bring on Dancing with the Stars - Ryan can still cash in on some things.
