UNI and Wichita St tie for the number one position www.mvc-sports.com/webapps/release?id=282Not unreasonable nor a surprise to me. WSU returns their whole team, and they were decent last year. SMS squeaks into third, but they were hit even harder by graduation than UNI was.

Looks like she only played in a third of the games last year, and is not listed on the 2004 roster. Was she injured?

Having watched WSU play this spring at the Kansas ST tourney I would have to agree that they deserve the votes that they received in the MVC ranking. They were very good and I thought that they were the most athletic team next to Nebraska. If I remember right they gave NU the toughest match during the tourney.

Yes, I think WSU will have a very good year. Sara Lungren is playing great , and with so many returning players, they will field a strong team. Lots of depth, too. Heather Hainline won't be returning this year. I'm not sure what she is doing, but she's a wonderful person, and I wish her well.

The big press for WSU is for Younes, the one with the tough lefty jump serve. OTOH, she hasn't done much against UNI, mainly, I think, because UNI has had experience with tough serves (when you have been on the receiving end of April Ross and Cassie Busse serves, Younes isn't quite as intimidating). In fact, she had more aces against Hawaii last year (3 in an early season match) as she did in three matches against UNI (2).
She was probably their most effective player on the floor against UNI, though, averaging 10 kills in the three matches.

Hainline transferred to Nebraska-Omaha and is on their roster and expected to play immediately.
