I agree, I think Joseph gets the nod there and I don't really see a spot for Kellum in the middle ☹️. I'm curious to know what you bought about the setting. If this is the trust tree than I will tell you: Kellum doesn't have a place and was probably a recruiting miss. Setting at UF has been overrated for awhile and still is. Setters (current, past & future) are obviously solid but it seems like UF has been trying to put square pegs in round holes for awhile. Not sure if it is recruiting and evaluation or system conflicts but it's been a minute since they haven't been using a patch work mentality at that position. I think Mack Dagostino and Taylor Brauneis did well, I wouldn't necessarily say they were overrated. I know Mack had some trouble setting the middles, but when you have to set Rhamat, most people are going to struggle.

Mack was very good but she had limitations on front row and that hurt against the Top 10! She was amazing on defense and athletically getting to the ball but she was another transfer setter that was patched into a 5-1 system at UF. During the last 5 years, UF has had elite level hitters (sometimes young) and stellar back row play (sans 1 year), but as a team has underachieved. Who do you blame? Albert? I know that is an oversimplification but I do think it has to do with not having a defined game plan at setter and therefore using this patchwork system. Again, the setters are and have been very talented but just not a great fit to the system. So the end result is that IMHO the setters are overhyped (better word). I may be totally off base as I don't follow program like you

I may be totally off base as I don't follow program like you I blame Alberta! She doesn't push herself in practice and her mind is only ever on Albert. But on a serious note, I do see your point on us relying on transfer setters to come in and try to fill holes. I am hoping with Marlie coming in for 2018, that she can immediately make a freshman impact, but I don't see her taking over Allie's senior year. UF always starts off the year strong, then does well in SEC (except 2015) and then its a struggle in postseason. Idk if its a coaching thing or what... but it's definitely frustrating that UF hasn't even been to a final four in over a decade. Sometimes I think UF is too focused on recruiting athletes and not players with strong fundamentals/skills. I know incoming OH Paige Hammons is very strong fundamentally and with an all-around skill set, so I am hoping she can really pick up some of the work left behind by Holston.

Paige and last year's DS come from a great club. They are taught at a young age how to compete. These coaches under estimate that sometimes. Paige will be a difference maker on day one! Some of their other star recruits don't have the club pedigree that gives them an edge at a young age. Say as a freshman!
Thayer Hall (2018) is awesome! I just saw her play. But I worry about her being a difference maker as a freshman because of her club intensity.

I agree Paige is a difference maker! She is so much fun to watch and always seems to be happy on and off the court! However, the rumor around Bluegrass was that she has "dead arm"? Anyone hear that? I hope that's not true and she can move on to college and become the player we all think she will be! From the few videos I've seen and from watching the Under Armour match, she doesn't have a whole heck of a lot of power behind her spikes, so I can see why people say she has "dead arm".

Hopefully Thayer Hall can create her own intensity in spite of her club's intensity level. Maybe playing on the Jr. National Team will give that intensity bump needed. Hopefully she will be playing with them again this year.
Marlie will be a terrific and welcomed addition in 18.

Well Hammons clearly had a dead arm at Bluegrass because it wasn't in action! Lol

Hopefully Thayer Hall can create her own intensity in spite of her club's slacker intensity level. Maybe playing on the Jr. National Team will give that intensity bump needed. Hopefully she will be playing with them again this year. Marlie will be a terrific and welcomed addition in 18. The hype is deserved on that one. Agree on both those additions. Paige alleged dead arm maybe the 400,000 swings she took in high school. They ought to sue that HS coach.

I looked up 'Dead Arm" and its actually a serious physical condition where there is a lot of damage to the ligaments in the shoulder from the repetitive motion of hitting. I'm not a doctor but it sounded bad. I wish the best for her and hopefully its all a rumor and she is fine!

I don't think they want anyone there based off of an announcement the day of the scrimmage! Odd!

Anyone see anything interesting? The stream wasn't working for me every time I tried.
