Why do teams get 2 pts for a win and 1 for a loss? This makes no sense.

And how in the hell did the USA lose to DOM? This does NOT bode well for either the RUS or CUB match.

If both the US and Dominican Republic end up 2-3 would Dom make it out of pool player over the US because they defeated the US?

No head to head in international competition. The tie break will come down to games won. If the US wins, then the Germany-Dom match doesnt matter. If the US loses, they are out.

So, even if the Dom wins, it wont matter against the US. Those 5 game matches have helped the US, even if they didn't win them.

I am almost positive first tie-breaker is games won/games lost.

I am almost positive the USA is in if they beat Cuba.

You are right about the tie-braker. When pts are equal they look at the sets won/lost ratio and then the points won/lost ratio if the set ratio is also equal.

Team USA is in if they win vs Cuba regardless of the score. If they lose, however, whoever wins (or would have won) GER vs DOM would get the last QF spot.
