Any of these girls on scholarship? Who knows? After watching Nalani Yama%*$#a play backrow for 2 years at UH, any other DS/Libero pales by comparison.

Any of these girls on scholarship? Nope. Unless Ashley Watanabe gets one this season.

I agree! Kelly Ong is a cutie too. And Juliana Sanders looks like a cross between Lily Kahumoku and Fernanda Venturini.

Actually, I saw her up-close last month when they came here for the Grand Prix. I even got to meet Valeskinha and some of the girls!

Nalani Yama%*$#a was an awesome defensive specialist and probably one of the best of all-time. Hedder wasn't that bad either. No one is giving Melissa Villaroman enough credit either. She has done an awesome job the past two seasons as UH's libero. Everyone will see how great of a job she did now that she's gone because Hawai`i's defense won't be the same.

The past couple of years, when an incoming Freshmen came to UH, there was talk that they could push the starters for play time. Yet, this year, with a whole new roster to fill, I haven't heard the Hawaii coaches commenting on any of these freshmen. I looked at their info and seems like they all have decent resumes. Yet, Shoji has stated Arnott/Boogard are OH's, Eckmier is MB1, Kamanao at S. Which Freshmen will most likely start? Who comes in most accomplished? Thomas has to be the biggest recruit because she was recruited by the most National Powers. Prince comes in with the most NCAA experience.

I'd keep your eyes on Hittle. She's making waves as a freshman.

Dare I say WAC freshman of the year ?

My money is on Hittle, a perfect match for Kanoe's style. Dare I say WAC freshman of the year ? Possibly. But earning frosh of the year is a given if any frosh can crack a starting lineup of a top WAC team and put up decent numbers. Hittle's good, but she'll have to get alot stronger physically to dominate in college like she was used to dominating in h.s./club. Quick feet, fast-twitch athlete. The potential is there. Arm is okay, not great. Like most young players, blocking is the phase of the game she needs to work on most.

Like most young players, blocking is the phase of the game she needs to work on most. As a left-side? It hasn't been a high priority for OH's to average 1.0+ bpg in the NCAA's... (Dang, this was supposed to be here on first publish)
