Just read on another website that Kim Willoughby will be the JV girls volleyball head coach at Punahou school.
If this is true, it will be great for these young girls at Punahou to learn from one of the best volleyball players and athletes of all time.
It is great that Kim is deciding to coach and give back to the state of Hawai`i after being there for her and cheering her on for four years at UH.
Congratulations to Kim.

Sounds like she will be coming back to finish her degree. I assume this is a side job for her as she tries to finish her schooling. It will be good for her to learn to teach the aspects of the game.
OTOH, I sort of feel sorry for the kids. It would be really fun to have a great player coach you, but can you imagine what can happen. "No, don't hit the ball like that. Hit it like this. Now, try to dig it as I hit it towards you." Not likely to happen, but funny to think about.

Not only that, but Willoughby singlehandedly will improve the ethnic diversity data for entire school at Punahou. Hehe.
(P.S. That's a slam on Punahou, not Willoughby, in case you board weenies didn't catch that joke.)

Sounds like someone was denied admission. Hehe. Actually, I went to a different private school on Oahu waaaaay back in the day. We did get our butts kicked every year by both of Punahou's varsity volleyball teams (I think they were called "Punahou Blue" and "Punahou Gold"). But, I digress. Punahou's a great school, and they throw a pretty good carnival every year, too. Ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, it most certainly is not, however.

Punahou is really an elitist school. Majority of Punahouers are WASPS.

We were just poor folk from the Leeward Side. But did you have to wear cardboard boxes on your feet because you couldn't afford shoes and walk up hill knee deep in snow both too and from school every day when you were a kid?

Nope, but we did eat government cheese. The one that came in that big rectangular block. LOL.

Admission is based on academic achievement, its not the schools fault that well educated people come from higher socioeconomic classes. Ask Kamehameha about race and admission policies.

You'll be opening up a can of worms if you try to bring Kamehameha's admission policy into play in defending Punahou. Punahou is what is, Kamehameha is what it is. Neither institution has to offer any apologies.

I'm tired of hearing people bash Punahou and pretend that everyone who goes there is rich and white. Race isn't a admission criteria, and when you look at other private schools such as Iolani, which is predominantly asian, people don't say much. Who cares if a can of worms is opened up, Kamehameha uses race as a admission qualification and people hesistate to question that policy as well. What it comes down to is that Punahou has been more successful than Iolani or Kamehameha, and therefore has been labled stuck up rich white kids. I went to Punahou and am neither white, rich, or stuck up. So save the jealous comments for someone else.

One thing I do like about Punahou, is how clean the campus is. The campus also looks like it could be a college ground too, especially with their sports complex.
